    DIY Cockpit and custom controlls

So, I go in for surgery today. I'll be laid up for a couple of weeks so I decided to throw together what I had finished, and African-engineer some quick parts so I'll have a functional (all-be-it ugly) something to play with. I should be able to finish the rest of the panels, back lighting, and...

Finished the first panel this afternoon after work with minimal mistakes, which is out of character for me. View: http://imgur.com/wMsDm8e View: http://imgur.com/ZtEW8tF

Completed the left and right side today, with mock placement of panels so I can measure cut-outs and figure out back lighting. View: http://imgur.com/pM5quzS View: http://imgur.com/nFkjbv9

Those are the cheapest that I've seen, but the view area behind the MFD's is only 4x4", so there's a lot of wasted realist ate on the screen, which I'm having a hard time justifying financially at this point. Maybe later down the road. Regarding using USB to VGA adapters, I have read that those...

The LCDs won't work very well for Star Citizen unless exporting displays are built into the game/modded afterword, which isn't likely- but for DCS aircraft they'll work well. As for work space, I purchasd a linear actuator that will lower the front panel to a flat, desk surface for working on...

View: http://imgur.com/gAxcGtx Left up-front panel (UFP) w/ cougar and lcd. I can't justify the cost of the 8" required for the MFD's so I'm settling for backlit custom printouts instead of the boxed ones that come with it. The LCD's I do have are 7" and too small, but make good auxillary...

Time to take stock of spended bucks and owned ships

After melting and remelting over the last 2 years, I've worked up to a Vanguard Hairbanger (with the Warden kit) a Saber, and a DUR, plus some cash left over. I figure that there are enough rich people around with multi crew ships that I could still get my rocks off by manning a station.

How do to download 3D mesh of Star Citizen ships from holoviewer

Does anyone know if it's possible to make the holoviewer a stand-alone application? Asking for an idea I have. My last programing experience was BASIC on the Apple IIe.

The starboard panel. Following the concept of a cockpit/desk, I'm building small storage spaces under the light boxes that I'm installing the new switch panels into. View: http://i.imgur.com/hPwiLrE.jpg View: http://i.imgur.com/6DHsSdF.jpg View: http://i.imgur.com/6SqdRLA.jpg

From my x42 purchased in 2005, thru the x52 in 2012, to the x55 I have now, I've never had an issue. Also, I'm able to fix most electronics post warranty with a multimeter and an oscilloscope, so I'll be fine. Don't worry your pretty little head.

    DIY Cockpit and custom controlls

So, I can't justify dedicating any amount of space in my house to a cockpit, so my concept is going to be a cockpit that converts to a desk. I was able to justify this to my wife by converting our old right-angle computer desk into a sewing desk. I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to build a...

Here is a side panel. I rebuilt it today to make it wider to accommodate the new panels and switches. I'll build the right side panel tomorrow for the stick and then begin work on the center console. The panels that are in right now are just to give an idea of placement and size. I'm no...

@bacheshatonee The panels were the product of my imagination having sex with an A-10C cockpit. (I play a lot of DCS… poorly) I wanted something military-like, but could also cross over to other games. Both panels are backlit, just one ended up brighter than the other. I accomplished this by...

@Jhonon The BBI-32 boards don’t require any drivers, unless you want to use rotary encoders, at which point there’s a small application that is run to flash the BBI with your rotary encoder specs so that the board will recognize the pulse widths. Other than that, when you plug the board into a...

I use the BBI-32 in 2 separate panels. They work fine, and if you get just the PCB w/out the mountings soldered on its way cheaper. Even with the international shipping. Edit: add pictures View: http://i.imgur.com/H8M3QS5.jpg View: http://imgur.com/Tj8iiZq View...
