I always thought the view in FPS and other games was fixed regardless of monitor size. If you get a wide screen it just stretches. Do games need to be optimized for this?

If price is not an issue then you can probably just go for the 18 core i9 with a decent mobo when more choices become available. In the meantime you can settle on a i7 broadwell refurbished or second hand with a 1080Ti for cheap to tide you over. The 1080 would easily fit in your new system...

Instead of 4 xS3 if 2 are pylons for the BD I would go hands down Vanguard. While missiles are nice they can be easily countered and every fighter carries more flare and chaff than missiles. That leaves 2x S3 on the BD which in my opinion makes it weaker at about the same as a gladius light...
