I believe that there will be tools to identify discovered systems, which means that friends can work their way towards each other. Perhaps we should think of this as a bonus feature in the game. The sense of achievement when meeting up will be pretty darned good. I guess that we'll know more...

I agree that the run of the mill benefits are fairly mundane, but the recent spate of subscriber benefits have been rather nice. The subscriber fee might be more sensibly spent on an annual ship purchase (RSI still gets the money, but you end up with something else in your hangar a bit bigger...
