I like the concept, this games about immersion after all, if you gave a larger ship this ability it could disrupt and kill anything at will so it only makes sense to put it on a smaller vessel and require them to act in a group effort. I mean imagine a Hammerhead or a Polaris with this ability...

RDR2 was great, I put about 140-150 hrs into it on the Xbox and loved every second of it, that was GOTY for me hands down recommend it to everyone. Right now I am playing Ghost Recon Break Point and so far its been a lot of fun its not perfect but its a time filler, I expect to get 200 hrs out...

Look, I love it, this is exactly why people want to fly escort ships and defend trade routes and ships, for me this is one of the more appealing professions/jobs out there, if you have valuable cargo and could just ferry it back and forth with zero risk what's the point of even being an escort...
