A coworker that actually knows this stuff says optane is ended towards low latency, having almost no ramp-up time and able to use it's full performance even with low queue depths. It's also supposed to be able keep the response times very low under heavy loads. I'd say this is super awesome...

Just check out what your video card can do in (your favorite) games on 4k.. and if you can live with those fps/quality settings, and you have the money to 'throw' away on a high end gaming monitor(a.k.a. high premiums for little gains).. go for it!
