There was something like that in Star Frontiers, where your rifle had a camera on it instead of sights and you wore goggles that displayed what the gun "saw" to make it easier to target.

Damn. That's a lot of porn for a silly bet.

Either way. That Avenger is gonna look good in my hanger.

Question for the arbiter of this bet? (Preston) Let me lay this situation on you as a situation that may arise at launch, and how you'll handle it. Lets say that with a simple gun and no helmet, your only source of aim is your aim down sights (Still no real reticle). However easily purchasable is a "smart gun" that interfaces with your helmet into your hud. This "smart Gun" always displays where it's pointing to on your HUD, so whether you're aiming down the sights, or firing from the hip you're still gonna have a pretty good idea where it's going, via a reticle. So Default is that no, you don't have a reticle form the hip, but you can get one easily. Say this situation comes to pass, who wins?

I have an outstanding bet for an Aurora MR with a person from Reddit. The bet was on whether or not the F7A Upgrade will be covered by the LTI insurance policy of the Hornet it's applied to. My counterpart says no because it's a custom add-on, like weapons from Voyager Direct, and needs to be insured separately. However, I have piles of information to back up my claim that it does, including messages from CS and wording from Ben Lesnick himself that says it will be covered by ship LTI.

But it's still not technically official just yet, so he wasn't willing to pay out the bet until the F7A Upgrade goes live in the game to end the dispute.

This is fine. I have no problem with waiting to add yet another Aurora to my hangar. ;)

"It's a draw! You both have to draw Avengers and give them to the other!"

One of llama's arguments was that red orchestra two, despite its realism, used hip fire reticles. So, seeing as in ww2, soldiers did not have hud's , I'm going with what is default, regardless of how easy it may be to obtain smart helmets or smart guns.

A good question is, what is default? If you can start the PU with it, does that make it default? Assuming of course you didn't buy it through CIG. Or is default with nothing equipped at all. Obviously this argument can go towards one bias or the the other. If you are given a helmet with crosshairs, but have the option to take it off, which one is default?

I, personally, hate hip fire in games. It gives people an exuse to never scope in, which is BS. Even a smart gun, while you'd be able to fire it somewhat accurately, wouldn't be nearly as accurate as if you scoped in. I hope CIG doesn't make another CS:GO.

You and me both. I sadly feel like I know the answer already however. Regardless of this bet, and any "technicalities" that Dortz would like to rely on, people will have a hip fire crosshair. Whether from helm or cybernetic upgrade, there it will be. The truth is, most people don't play "hardcore" game modes. A lot of backers will argue (and with a good point), that in the future, they would have this aim assist (because that's what it is), and I think CIG, at the end of the day, will pat their little bruised egos, and say "hush child, have a lollipop".

Oh, and don't forget the people who put tape crosshairs on their tv/monitor. That'll be a thing too.
Sure, I use mumble to give me the exact center of my crosshair. It helps, that will always be a thing. BUT. What I hope CIG does is make hip fire very inaccurate(like IRL), so that it can be used for a last ditch effort, but it's not like CS, where it's all you use because you can control the recoil. They can program it so that it can't be confined to a dot in the center of your screen. If you watch videos of pro CS players, they'll show you the pattern that hip fire generates. It's very predictable and easy to control. Since this is more of a sim, I hope CIG doesn't go that route. I think a reticle would help, but I don't want it to be used instead of a scope in.
