So, sitting at home, watching some videos on YouTube, and pop....... My mother board dies. And I won't have the money to replace it until two weeks AFTER CitizenCon......the universe hates me.

It was an open box deal from NewEgg, and I already tested the power supply. The MB has been showing signs of dying, I was just hoping it would last until the 20th.

Well, I got it running, kind of. I am down to 4 SATA ports ans 2 USB 2 ports.The on board audio is gone along with the the e-SATA ports and the rest of the SATA ports, and almost all of the USB ports (they don't even show up in the BIOS. I have had a few people say "It's the PSU, you don't have enough power." I have run the system through numerous PSU calculators, and the PSU is 30-40% more than the startup draw, so I know its not the PSU. It runs well enough, for now, and , fingers crossed, it will last till I get my next paycheck. I only have my SSD hooked up, so its just Steam and Star Citizen for the time being.

I usually just leave it running, but until I get the new MB, it stays off, unless I want to play. I do have a crap load of movies for my kids one one of the drives, and all my Origin games are on the other. And my Blizzard stuff.
I hope it works out. I didn't think a MOBO would even come back to life after what you described.

May be a stupid question but, have you tried looking at Craigslist or ebay? I've managed to get some great steals out of them. Just recently I bought a box set of 2 joysticks and 2 throttles for $65 after shipping, then sold one set for $50. I turned around and purchased a 120gb SSD for $40. So far everything works great.
eh, when it comes to internals, I think I will just buy new stuff, warranty and all. peripherals, I do look on E-Bay
