Hello all,

I have Vanguard Warden, and have been thinking of upgrading it to a Redeemer. According to the update ship page, there will be no cost for the change either. I know the Vanguard Warden is flyable currently, and that the Redeemer is only hanger ready.... but I see the Redeemer as the superior ship of the two.

Am I wrong... ?

Please help me with pro's and con's of making the change from one to the other.

cheers

Jake

Well I have both, Redeemer and Harbinger with Sentinel BUK. Personally I like them both. Vanguard requires minimal personel and with the various BUKs you can turn it from a fighter to an E-war machine to a pocket bomber. Lots of versitility and options with the Vanguard. Redeemer obviously is getting a design sweep and likely will have some sort of unknown BUK options available post tweeks. If you have a group of buddies to haul about, thats the ship. Plus may make options available to turn the manned turrets to slave turrets of the pilot. That would be massive and I call it my PAIN machine. Redeemer will certainly tear shit up. Love the look also. So if there isnt an option for both ships with you. Have a think about what sort of stuff you want to do in the PU and try to best match the ship to those needs. Regardless of what you do your not locked in to anything. Many options to crew with others and even borrow ships will be there so your not limited in any shananagans.

The Redeemer is the only ship with a coffee maker. This is enough of an issue to go with this badass of a ship. You simply cannot go out shooting other pals without coffee. Its just irresponsible.
It has a coffee machine? All this time I have been taking it through drive through space McDonalds for my coffee needs!

What do you want to do? Be a long range fighter or a gunship that can carry troops? The vanguard would have a more stable and probably more of a money maker then a redeemer. Redeemer would be good for capture the ship/station tasks.

You have done WHAT??!!??
LOL.....have you actually been through a McDonalds for coffee? o_O I think not, although Germany may be alittle different from Australia on what they offer. They have actual Barristers there with actual cafe coffee machines. The coffee is actually quite good in the scheme of things. They implemented that in Australia a few years ago as their coffee was so crap they were getting too many complaints. Mind you, everyone is a Barrister these days so it doesnt mean much!

The Warden has not got many uses. Word is it is too sluggish to dogfight, and even though it has great range and great weapons, a fighter that cannot fight fighters is not much use. The Sentinel should be much more useful. The Harbinger is interesting with all the added missiles, but when you then compare its fighting ability against the Redeemer it loses badly. The Redeemer is lighter, faster, more maneuverable, with better shields and weapons that can target much better than the fixed weapons on the Vanguards. Probably the Redeemer will have similar issues being sluggish but to lesser degree. Other benefits with the Redeemer are it transports attack squads and sounds like its shields can take a ridiculous beating. That alone gives it tank uses other ships don't have. The Redeemer has some cargo space and it is possible it can be fit with things like EMP or other EM warfare like the Sentinel. Having EMP on tap is going to be dangerous as hell. The docking collar on the Redeemer makes it the perfect escort for the Carrack during deep space exploration, since you can easily move crews back and forth, and it's perfect for boarding larger ships.

Seems an easy choice for me.

NA, not everyone. There are good ones, there are bad ones - and there is McD. Way too expensive, way too...erm, minor quality. When they started the McCafé I sometimes went there for a cake and a coffee. But as the time goes, the prices went up, the quality down. Now I'm stopping by there once a year, when we've had a longer tour with the car and the small tour victim on the back seat needs to be cheered up ;)

Thank you all for your input... I have gone ahead and swapped them over... and I feel it was a good choice. The ship looks far better, bigger and looks like it could do more damage in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing ( so not me then ) ...

I took a short twitch walk around if anyone is interested....

@Shadow Reaper, you are correct the vanguard isnt the most nimble ship about say compared to a SHornet for sure. But it would by far have to have better maneuverbility than the Redeemer which is far larger. I need to compare the specs. Dont write off the Harbinger either, ram a few of those torpeodos or the rocket turret up someones ass and they will feel it for days!

I think right now I'd take the Redeemer. I freaking love the utility and look of that ship. But until it's flyable, its hard to tell how they'll compare.
The Warden is a great ship, and will hold it's own if you can get a grip on flying it. And the harbinger looks like it'll be a bastard of a missile boat.

I am curious as to what "updates" they have in mind for the redeemer's 2nd pass... That's really the main reason why am still holding on to it.. well that and my stupid gotta buy them all mentality...

If there is no cost for it then buy the upgrade (for free) and do not apply it untill later. it will remain on your account unapplied and if you decide to do it simply apply it. If you decide against it later on once both ships are in the game then you delete it. there would be no cost to you for it at all and it covers you either way.

Smart move. I have many of these.

I currently have a Redeemer in my hanger but I most likely will switch it out, thing is you need at least 5 crew 2 just for the turrets right? For me unless you really want to mess with PC crews a lot or have a reliable bunch of friends to play with any ship that requires 3 or more players or pc crew I would be weary of until the game releases and you have access to the organization and its members.

I would stick with Vanguard its a beast of a ship and you really only need 1 person maybe 2 for the turret which is much easier to deal with, also the Redeemer is a gunship imo and to me this is a support ship that would benefit larger scenarios where the fleet or several ships are involved. Just my 2 cents as I have had lots of struggles with what ships I want and what ships are better suited to my play style and they are not the same unfortunately. :P
