So now that the BMM is actually on the dev tracker, should I upgrade my LTI Prospector to the Defender for the potential symbiotic relationship the two ships may have? I originally was only interested in the Defender for it being a long range fighter/escort, but I've got a Sentinel CCU hanging out and imagine it's going to be the superior escort, though what do I know. The Prospector LTI is my last LTI sitting around that $$ range, I'd been debating going Hornet/Saber with it instead and with Invictus coming I need y'all to make up my mind for me!

Thanks for any input fam, y'all always rock.

Ahh BMM buyers how amusing. To think in a month it will once again be removed from the road map and their hopes dashed upon the rocks of soon(TM).

Then again if it stays on the road map it makes me wonder if CIG is working towards utilizing its market feature of allowing players to buy and sell from each other.

After the excitement about the connie taurus, only to be dashed, the hull c, only to be dashed, the starliner, only to be dashed.

I don't get excited about anything that cig promises any more!!

TEST has plenty of BMMs, you can save your money if you want. Not to brag but to encourage saving money, for example, not counting my main BMM I have these spares... which I CCU'd basically at the original $250 amount using the old $0 CCUs to BMMs. I would guess others also did the $0 CCUs to BMMs before the price hike, so there should be plenty in TEST. It is so expensive now if you were to pay full price and will probably only get more expensive to own in-game... so... maybe.. save your money?

For sure, saving money is a fantastic thing to do, I appreciate your advocacy on my behalf! :P Jokes aside, I think you maybe misread my post or I worded it poorly. I don't need anyone's BMM, I'm in the old backers club as well. My question was should I burn my LTI Prospector to turn it into a Defender as the BMM was 'maybe' going to have a symbiotic relationship with the vessel. I don't have a Defender other than the loaner for the BMM and I'm not sure how alien 'rarity' is going to come into play.

Honestly it's best to save all CCUs as long as you can. I've had a few packages I've had to melt because I didn't want to wait and ended up not liking a particular ship. I'm going to hold onto my C2 and A2 as well as the BMM until months after it comes out. If you really have to try it you can either rent in game, borrow someone else's, or just do a subscriber for a month and they let you have it the month after it comes out.

The Defender does feel like a novelty ship. My hunch is that any gameplay symbiosis with the BMM will occur in really niche cases in practice. But the ship looks cool enough, so I keep one to fly as a fighter. I recommend taking one out for a spin to see if you like its forward-facing arms vibe before melting another ship for it. Especially the prospector that offers different game play.

Much appreciated for all the input folks! I'll hold off on it for now as it sounds pretty niche and I've already got a Vanguard. Thank y'all very much!

I actually like the defender. I like it's totally different look and feel and I also like the fact that it's a decent ship once you take the banu weapons and shields off!

It's also got a long quantum range which is very useful when compared to it's competition such as the sabre super hornet etc.

I understand replacing the S2 Singes with S3 fixed weapons, I do the same, but what don't you like about the Sukoran shields?
There are so many people that want those shields for non-Banu ships.

The delay time when damaged and delay when down are laughable. No point in having mega strong shields if they're completely down for 30 seconds + in the middle of a fight. Especially given that armour is effectively totally broken at the mo so you need to keep your shield faces up as a priority.

Out of curiosity, why so many BMM? Tokens for bigger ships thanks to price jump?

I got it before the price jump and because it's the only real transport ship I have.

I didn't wanna get a Caterpillar while the Constellation/Freelancer class doesn't have comparable SCU capability.

Ended up with the BMM due to the price point, SCU capability, and the fact that it's damn sexy looking.

It originally concepted for $250. And back then was said to have over 3500 SCU of internal storage plus shops functionality. It's also alien so it has massive appeal. It's almost as good as a Hull C, but cargo is safe and it can land on planets.

The ship is a fantastic buy if you want a live on ship.

Well, utilizing various discounted CCUs I started collecting since 2018, I've managed to get Starfarer Gemini for $280, and I got CCU to BMM that's worth another $10, so while I couldn't get quite the original $250 price, I'm just $40 off years later so I'm not too upset. I'll execute the last CCU after I figure out whether I actually like BMM or not though. And honestly, it might still be possible to collect various IAE discount CCUs and get the BMM for $300 or so, well, depends on future expos and whether BMM hikes in price again.

The reason people like Sukoran is because the absorption is 100% regardless of shield HP. Like say you get shot with some physical projectile weapons for 30k damage, but over time so Sukoran doesn't get to regen while FR-76 stays up all the time but on average absorbs only 75% of the damage.

This would mean that your defender with FR-76 gets blown up, while defender with Sukoran will be at 8k shield hp left but the hull is at 100% on top of that.

Anyhow, both shields have their own strong points and situations where one is better than the other, which is pretty cool.
