Can we please host a Test Radio station

I think it's going to come down primarily to what original content the station has to offer. As it stands there isn't much if any new original content there and when it comes to competing with other avenues of media, it has its work cut out for it. I'd rather listen to whatever I'm in the mood for when I want to from my music collection, so the music that is playing isn't a huge draw (not that that is the fault of the station or your selection or anything). Twitch doesn't translate well to audio only most of the time. The commentary is often too sparse to fill the airwaves (the streamers are playing a game, not dictating a play-by-play for the "blind"). Audio tracks from the CIG vids is good, but we've heard them all already.

The point I'm getting to I suppose, is what does a radio station have to offer at this moment that will make people want to listen to it? It's difficult to get people to dedicate a block of time to anything when there are so many dozens of other things vying for their attention. Now, I'm still totally on board with the idea and my offer to host for an hour or so every few days is still standing (although I do need to go into more detail as to what I can/want to do, but that's not the point of this post), but to get people to tune in, the station has to have a hook of some sort. What is your vision of that? What do you want this station to offer that will make people want to listen?

My vision is that its something that is running in the background while people are playing. but, like you, I often just play what I am an the mood for or watch tv in the background. The big piece that I want to offer listeners is a station where you can hear commentary about whats going on in the universe as well as possible bounties or in game ads for different jobs as well as a site that incorporates some of those same ideas on a non RSI platform.

Essentially I want it to be think guy but with more music and less annoying.

I suggest trying to find a way to get this to stream on Twitch. Add some TEST and RSI graphics and a cool lay out. If you haven't already, check out The Base on Twitch for a good idea of what I'm saying. Of course you don't want to completely rip off their idea but could possibly get some ideas. They've gotten big enough to have interviews with some CIG folks and if that would ever be a goal on the station I'm sure it could be achieved.

I love the idea of a radio station I just think that maybe it's a bit early right now, I mean, there isn't a universe to report on yet.
Anything like ATV and the other videos, I watch anyway and I'm sure lots of people do so I don't need a radio station to repeat bits from them. What I would listen to is a station that gives TEST specific news so that I can keep up to date whilst playing and not have to waste valuable SC time trawling the forum but of course, until there is a PU, that just doesn't apply.

Maybe don't focus on getting something running right now and work on all the backing to it: Graphics, radio ads, jingles that kind of stuff so you have a big selection of buffer material that you just need to add articles too when there is stuff to actually report on.

Of course it's up to you what direction you take but if you want it to be popular you need to offer something different to the rest of the internet and I don't think reporting on overall SC development is it.

If I click the link in your description, I can't easily control the volume very well? If I put to max it's 100%, and if it's like on minimum, then the sound level is still at like 50% or something, which is weird? :S

I am hosting my own radionomy commercial station for some time now. Keep in mind that if after 3 months you are not averaging 12hours/day of listening time, the station and its content are deleted. After it survives the first 3 months, there is an additional period of 6 months where you have to get up to 130hours/day average audience threshold. If you don't reach that, then the station is axed.

So the stream has been running for a few days only maxing at around 10 listeners. I really want to make a direct site that people can stream through instead of having to deal with radionomy but before I spend way too much time making a full site I want to get an idea if its worth it, or if it could just be a widget on Test?

So yesterday well we were all sitting around before the meeting we all were talking about stuff and a radio came up. So I told everyone you were working on this and linked your radio and this thread. That was a good 20-30 people in that one channel, hopefully this gets more views and support. In the next few days could you repost the stats so we can see if people are checking it out? Oh and some sounded kind of interest in helping (someone wanted to do an hour of sea shanties lol). There was some feedback on things they would like to see too, I was just waiting to see if they wanted to post their thoughts/ideas.

I would be up for writing in character news sections for a test radio show though, have actually come up with a couple of ssmall 'news reports' already, wasn't sure if people'd want me to share them, but I'll type 2 out here:

A veteran pilot instructor was fired today after calling an 'axial roll' a 'barrel roll'. UEE officials assure us that all of thier instructors are fully trained and that this is a case of a single repeat offender. Test squadron have been quoted as being pleased with the move saying "Anyone who doesn't know barrels intimately should never be allowed to fly"

(On the subject of the FPS module delays)
The popular game star marine has had all of it's servers taken down after a hacker managed to make the game read 0Gs and Infinite Gs. People in full VR chambers across the verse have reported injuries as severe as broken bones. Origin say that the game will be patched and re-released "soon", until then they would like to remind everyone that thier hit game Arena Commander is still working and 100% bug free!

So yeah, I'd happily write the news :)

So after a weekend of intense drinking and brainstorming I have come to the conclusion that the best course of action is to wait until the PU is up and running. That way I don't spend time building something that might be obsolete when the PU comes out, and instead I can build on some ideas that I we can hatch when the time is right.
