right, lads and ladies,
i need a new hotas. i got the cheap thrustmaster one, and i'm missing stuff like a second coolie hat for strafes, and a bunch of buttons for stuff like decoupling and such. any recommendations ? cheaper would be nice, but if there's a huge difference between a x52/x52pro and a warthog i'd scrounge up the bucks and buy the latter...

Our Exalted Leader Montoya tackled this very question by throwing himself into the HOTAS' fire in a grueling series of 4 videos in order to spare us all from needless pain and suffering.

Here they are-

I have and use the X52Pro and i'm really pleased with it.

It's a good HOTAS for the money.

Can't say how it competes with the more expensive models...

I have an X52 and though im pleased with it I dont feel the joystick is as sensitive as my T16000m.
I probably end up using the T16000m as main. Not sure if Im going to use the X52 throttle or lefthanding the stick yet.

The X52 is perfect for regular flight tho imo!

i personally own both an x55 and an x52, to me the x52 has a better feeling stick out of the box, the x55 is adjustable but i feel like some of the buttons like the top hat switch are really high compared to the lower buttons, that being said the x55 certainly is not bad and centers itself well. as far as throttles are concerned the x55 is a rolls royce, and the x52 is a honda civic, both function but you can due much much more with the x55 throttle (i use the dual throttle to steer tanks in war thunder)

If price matters at all. The X52 Pro just dropped in price or is on sale for 149.99 at amazon.

Used? With any luck it won't be one of the first batch made, those were of an awfully bad quality, I earnt that the hard way

Got the warthog and I can confirm it's a beast, but of course it will ravage your wallet.

In term of precision compared to the T16000m, are the X55 and up similar (or even better?)?

I went from an X52 (that worked great btw) to dual T-16000s and I'm not looking back. Way better precision and dual stick definitely adds a layer of control over a throttle with a digital strafe knob. A CH throttle with analog 8 way hat might do the trick but otherwise I'm not getting a throttle for my left hand in a long time.
