I just found out about this from a reviewer about 3.9 on YouTube. Looks really really well done! First issue is free...and it's pretty fucking awesome! Through PATREON, it looks like you will be able to just pay to read for 3/month, have access to print the pages for 9/month or even have it mailed to your post box to collect @ 20/month.

Are you sure first one is free and you need to pay for following ones?
There is nothing indicating that on their site and on Patreon (not sure about text of magazine itself).

The 3/month patreon gives you:

• Have your name appear in the magazine
• Join the Cosmonaut Discord server
• Patron-only posts

By the way, if they gonan mention all paying patreons in magazine, I hope they are not successful, cause who would like to read magazine with 100 pages of mentioned names? ;)

I agree, pdf is terrible for reading or printing, guess it's their way of making money from 9/month patreons, that gives:

• Print-optimised PDF of our monthly magazine
• And everything in the previous tier

Just to clarify: Cosmonaut is a totally free, community made magazine. Patreon is only a way readers can choose to support us, help us grow and/or exists as a simple method to obtain a paper copy - for those who want one.

Monthly issues will always be presented free on our website.

Cosmonaut is the work of a team of eight space sim fans and Star Citizen backers, across a range of disciplines - writers, designers, artists and photographers. While some of us do work in publishing, this is a completely volunteer effort, by and for the community.

We've wanted to do something like this for a long time, but only recently (with the implementation of progress persistence between updates) did we decide that the time was right. Our ambition is to make a monthly free magazine of a quality that Star Citizen deserves.

Here's our Issue 1 launch teaser for you. :)
