I have HD7970... that's comparable to R9 280 correct? (o_O) and it SHOULD have Mantle too right?

I last played Alpha Centauri and I really don't know how much I will play it. But I loved the game and bought it anyway, so I'll play single player to get the hang of it and see if multiplayer is something I'm interested in.

It's turn based right? Playin against speed fingers is really an annoyance.

I got completely demolished by those crawling warm alien things.......
Also, I can't seem to launch the Mantle version of the game on my HD7970... from everywhere I've read, it should support Mantle, but I guess it was out before it was fully implemented so compatibility is still wonky huh.
The game performance is so far flawless though so no complaints.

I will be starting today at 6:00 PM EST. I will probably play for 6-8 hours straight. Preferably one game.
I get home from work ~5:15, 45 minutes to walk dog and eat. Then Civ is mine!
