Ive recently bought second hand hotas and pedals and they are pretty gross. What is the best way to clean these things, just rub some alcohol on it?

I would think either that or a mild cleaning detergent and a lot of paper towels or sponges.
Alkohol should be fine (i would prefer isopropyl alcohol 99%)
If you want it really clean you should deassemble almost everything.
if you're okay with 90% clean or insecure about deassmbly, i would use Q-Tips soaked in alcohol to clean all those small grooves and rills. An old toothbrush might come handy too. . Let everything dry well. Don't be too excessive with the alcohol i would prefer using small amounts for several times.
Also the alcohol should dry fast i still would avoid putting too much on the electronics.
or put them in the dishwasher ;D
Ah cheers, its mostly the parts his greasy hands have been on. Ill get some isopropyl alcohol!
Yeah! Alcohol will work great to make plastic lose it's integrity...
Smartest way is like Printimus said cleaning detergent ( that don't effect plastic, or paint etc.. ) like washing-up liquid and HOT water then using old toothbrush and sponge.
Manual labor, don't get lazy when cleaning electronic devices it will back fire one day. : - )

Its a thrustmaster cougar so its heavy metal but good point on the plastics. Ill clean the biggest metal areas with alcohol and around the buttons with a detergent :)

Pour some beer on it. Trust me, it'll be fine. Makes it smell nice too.
Fire, like with napalm or jellied gasoline, nothing cleans problem areas better.
I know with the Thrustmaster T16000M sticks, the ball at the base is greased. Just make sure if there is a part that looks like it should be greased gets some grease after you clean it. Probably something like a light silicone grease would be best.
Just don't mix up your alcohols or the inability to see straight won't wear off after a nights sleep.
Doesn't matter if you're used to always seeing double.
