I hate to suggest you throw more money at this game, but using a head-tracking peripheral such as TrackIR or possibly even FaceTrackNoIR will link to your gimbals, effective making it to where your head aims your guns. MUCH easier. and Don't forget about the "Target Focus" - 'L' key to zoom in and sort of "slow down" aim-movement when the reticule is near the target (think: aim assist). hrmmm... lastly, depending on your setup & playstyle, Voice Attack can also help with assigning keys / functions that might not be bindable on your HOTAS. (ie. power modes, shields, target management...)
PS: huge headache I wouldn't want anyone else to have, so I mention this here... TrackIR may not work correctly with Star Citizen immediately after installation. I don't know why this is, but the fix (for me) is to update the TrackIR game profiles. As of the TrackIR 5.2.200 version (June 2015) this is simply clicking Game Updates button in upper right corner (next to News button). Hope this helps a fellow gamer!
