List of things "Covert Ops" should be capable of doing:

  • Espionage (Hacking the Spectrum, tracking conversations ingame, etc)
  • Tracking
  • Sabotage
  • Verification of Intelligence
  • Stealing the enemy's supply of beer.
Deception and stealth to include protection of hidden assets:
Exploration units
Claimed Systems/Land/Resources
Jump Points into protected areas

Shows of force, on the defensive front, allow others to identify weaknesses as well as strengths. Others can't steal what they don't know exists.

If that fails, blow them up, mercilessly.

Covert Ops could range from intelligence and combat to supply runs and shipping, if you don't want it known it can be made covert.

As for ships we currently have a few that are meant to be stealthy to a degree like the Hornet Ghost, Sabre, and Eclipse for example. All are primarily combat vessels, meaning they could make ideal escorts or shock assault ships against an enemy fleet or cargo ship, opening with a salvo of missiles/torpedos before closing for conventional dogfights.

I got my Valkyrie and Cutlass both for special-ops missions and covert/clandestine infiltration and exfiltration and support of ground forces. Count me in.

When it comes time to talk specific tactics, techniques, procedures and special ops doctrine, I can provide some real world insight.
