Elite Dangerous: Thargoids first contact!

Brief history: In the Elite Dangerous universe, we have known of an alien race called Thargoids.

Over the past year in the game, there have been wrecked human ships found in random places with no explanation of why or how they were shot down.

There was also a Thargoid wreck discovered a few months ago, but that is all that is known about this alien race.

Today the devs introduced the Thargoid race to the community!

What you are going to see here is a player simply doing his thing, he is jumping between two systems as he usually would, except he abruptly gets pulled out of hyperspace and ship is powered down, leaving him with no control:

(Elite Dangerous has some of the best sound design I have heard in a game, turn up your volume and enjoy!)

I'm really curious to see how this is going to play out. I'm not much of an Elite devotee but I do fly every now and then. Looks like I'll need to start working towards getting a beefier combat ship than my dinky lil' Viper.

Second, I found and fought the Thargoids 20 years ago in Elite - First Frontier.
About time you found them. Ha. Ha.

(Elite Dangerous has some of the best sound design I have heard in a game, turn up your volume and enjoy!)

I really hope SC brings the same alien feel to the vanduul or some of the other alien races, which has a total "out of this world" feel/sound to it.

Holy--

That was pretty damn amazing. I looked at ED when it first launched but never got into it. The sounds were pure bliss to the ears. The ship creaking, etc. Amazing. And when the Thargoid Flower Mk I came around... damn. I hope we can expect something like this in SC once it's out of Alpha/Beta.

Wrong. 1996 I had my fourth computer.
Its was just a misspelling: @CosmicTrader wanted to write "30 years" (but meant "40 years").

Last time I tried a month ago for the first time in my Vive. Opened up galactic map and it was unusable in VR. Got disappointed, and quit.
