Much like the F8C was sold, they will now be selling the full out F7A in-game when you complete an event

Instead of replacing the current hornet, there is now a hornet Mk I and Mk II (both F7C)

There is currently no F7C Mk II ghost, tracker, etc. I expect this will come at some point

Big differences are the S4 weapons and less missiles and slower speed. The MkII 7c also supposedly has an extra power plant, but that does not appear on the F7A mkII, so I don't know if this is accurate or not.

F7A has 2xS4 and 4xS3 weapons plus some missiles.

More to come as I find out more

Oof. F7A would be tough to pass on... I couldn't pass on the F8C on its first sale. Warbond even. :drunk:

ETA: Hopefully it's an event like the Idris where I have zero chance of unlocking it :like:

ETA2: Nope. It's definitely achievable if you're willing to do the missions. I bought a F7C MkII :drunk:

Note that the Hornet MK II can be CCU'd from a Sabre for $5 currently. For those that seek to gain 1 through the CCU dance. I don't have the $160 on hand as disposable cash currently, so I'm taking the CCU route as well as hoping to achieve success through the mission chain for the upgrade.

Just a small word of warning before it's possible to make this mistake, as stated on the official Spectrum post.

"▲ Can I melt my F7C Mk II and will I get my Upgrade Token back?
► If you have used your Upgrade Token from F7C Mk II to F7A Mk II, and then melted your F7A Mk II, your token will have been consumed in the process. Our Support team won't be able to provide the Upgrade Token back to your account. "

The F7A has a Size 2 powerplant. (Erkul has the F7C Mk2 as one size 2 and one size 1 powerplant.)
The F7A was supposed to be 2 Size 2 under the nose, 2 Size 3 in the top turret and 2 Size 4 under the wings. (Thugh Erkul says the nose turret is two S3.)
I'm curious if the f7C MkII has a chin turret, or is it just the Size 3 mount. It is supposed to use the F7A top turret (2 Size 3).

Crap.
Now I have to decide, Sabre or Hornet MkII for my Non-Hawk Carrier Fighter.

Based on the MM Q&A the Sabre should be faster and more agile, where the Hornet should be tankier with more firepower.
The Hornet makes a better escort, since being visible means you are a deterrent but the Sabre makes a better ambush/strike fighter.

Hm. I recently (finally) tried out the whole self referral thing, so I ended up with an extra ship I was wondering what to do with. Getting a 'free' $40 dragonfly black along with a discounted starter package was a pretty fantastic deal.

Well, this gives me a rather nice idea for it. Bit more expensive than the 315p I was considering, but man, I liked F7C MK I, I was just annoyed I couldn't get the F7A MK I stuff on it. Now the MK II has even bigger guns and you can get the F7A upgrade to boot! And via CCUs no less. Exciting stuff.

I'm away for most of May though. Hope there won't be an event in the chain I'll miss. =/

Well... what are you now supposed to do with F7C-M almost military spec Super Hornet? Buy an F7C MkII, wait for F7C-M MkII to get an F7A-M upgrade? :wut:
Not sure if this answers your question or not, but it's the closest I've found so far from CIG.

▲ What happens to my F7A Veteran's Day cosmetic upgrade kit?
► We are very happy to share that for those of you who previously acquired the F7A Veteran's Day Cosmetic Upgrade Kit, you will be given a full F7A Hornet Mk I for free. This will be delivered to you during this year's Invictus Launch Week! Enjoy! o7

The best I can help answer your worries is from the CIP Q&A on Spectrum.

▲ What is this event all about?
► This event encompasses a multi-week series of missions, ultimately culminating in the next big clash against XenoThreat. The CDF is once again calling upon civilians to take up arms and fight back against the XenoThreat, this time, on the CDF's terms. Follow along as the story unfolds both on this FAQ and the main website for the event.

▲ Will I be able to join the mission series late, and still participate?
► Yes! You have until the final phase starts (ahead of Invictus Launch Week - to be announced later) to join the Overdrive Initiative and still be eligible for the free F7A Mk II Token Upgrade.

I'm going to wager that you've been a good boy this year...and deserve both!

I have limits on my fleet, especially on craft this size with short range.
One of these 2, the Hawk and the Eclipse is the limit. And that is hoping the Hawk fits on my Liberator's front pad.

What is it you're planning to use the back seat for on the CM?
Did you buy the Super Hornet outright or is it part of a CCU chain?

Thanks, though unfortunately it's specifically the first 3 weeks of May that I'm away, so if there's a phase before the final phase on those 3 weeks, then I guess I'm out of luck =/

Guess I could try to find an internet cafe or something. Never been to an internet cafe before tho.

The F7A will not be on sale after completing the event you will receive a free upgrade token from the F7C Mk2 which you can hold onto for later use.

Neat, another "streamers-only" event. Can't wait!
From the research I've done, it's not that difficult to complete the missions required to get the F7A upgrade token. Anyone who's interested and able to log on should be able to get it.

Now whether you want to set aside the funds to have a F7C in your stable is a whole different story.
