In kind of a temporary situation atm so having a decent puter helps. Only played with the ram so far. For anybody building a ryzen google dram calculator for ryzen. Those sticks in dual rank are samsung e die for anybody that cares. I think this rig will get me by for a few years...

Looks like somebody has helped boost the life & performance capability of this rig over the years. Good times.

I'm still puttering around in my several years old PC, but hopefully I'll be building a new PC soon (tm). The parts that I'll be upgrading into will depend entirely on when I have the money ready as well as parts availability when that time comes. Wish me luck please.

My current PC:

CPU - AMD FX 8350

Mobo - Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD7

RAM - 32gb DDR3 1866 (4 x 8gb sticks)

GPU - Strix RX 480 OC 8gb

PSU - Corsair AX 860i

Storage - SSD - SC is stored on 480gb Intel Optaine
Multiple other SATA III SSD's for boot & other storage needs

Monitor - Asus TUF 1440p 165hz VG32VQ1B

oh wow yeah it's about that time for you. you might as well wait for the new ryzen platform coming out later this year so you'll have 4 yrs of an upgrade path if needed. gpu you could pick up since you can just xfer that over but new stuff is also coming. if you can find a 3060 ti in the 400's i wouldn't hesitate.

I was actually thinking of my next build being something along this line as a stop gap for the time being, but with the intention of later converting it into a NAS home server once the 1st few waves of the AM5 platform are out to avoid the potential bugs of being an early adopter as well as to let the costs of the DDR5 drop a littler & come out with higher speeds.
