Finnish hockey trolling Russian league. How do we apply this to UEE?

So the Finnish hockeyteam Jokerit is the only western team in the KHL (Russian league).
They are pulling negative 16 million € every year. But since the KHL doesn't want to loose it's only western team the league itself (aided by the government) is covering the losses.
Knowing Finnish-Russian relations I can say that at least half the losses is the team just spending money to f*** with the Russian government.

Now the question is...
How do we start a Banu hockeyteam, play in the UEE league and make the UEE spend lots of money to not loose their only alien team?

Hockey would be tough to achieve in space (ice is a precious commodity), but this may fit in with my plans for an all Vanduul beach volleyball tourney. I just had to convince them that Volleyball was mankind's most revered arena in which to display one's prowess in combat. Had to fudge some facts about the ball representing a severed head and the "performance enhancing" properties of the traditional bikini-cut uniforms. Could go great, could go horribly awry, but one thing is clear; It will be the source of the Verse's weirdest, most uncomfortable to admit, erections. Let the games begin!

There is a lot of unused water-ice on meteors and some of our gas-giants moon's (like Europa). And that is just counting water ice in our own system. Not any of the carbon dioxide ice or nitrogen ice (like on Pluto and Neptune) or anything compareable on exoplanets.

But I do like the space-quidditch idea...

I foresee a Hockey vs miners tournament.

Can you play fast enough to not run out of ice before match ends?

Yeah, I mean....there's a lot of water in space, sure, but it's never going to flow TO you. It must be stored and you need to go out and get it. To add difficulty to the chore: space is big. So if one were to run a space station, their supply of ice would both keep them breathing as well as hydrated (Most common form of oxygen generation is Electrolysis of water which also creates hydrogen fuel). Now I didn't say that ice was expensive or hard to find, I said that it was precious. Precious would infer its functional value, not monetary or otherwise in this case. 71% of the surface of the earth is covered by water, but you'd still die if you cant manage to drink any for 3 days. Abundant, yet precious.

And I thought we already had space quidditch with Sataball?

I say we need our own TEST sport. I'm thinking, two planets as goals, one station in the middle, two teams of auroras trying to push that station to the opposite goal via a series of impacts.
