3.1 is live and the Villanova Wildcats are heading back to the NCAA chamionbships (go Temple Owls). Now is the time for my semi-annual fleet existential crisis and I need some advice. Today's contenders are:

Starfarer Gemini vs Reclaimer

Thinking of upgrading my trusty StarG to a faux Nostromo. Did the comparisons on the ship matrix (StarG wins on cargo cap but might be a push on weapon loadout). The biggest conundrum for me will be gameplay mechanics: salvage vs. refueling. What's more lucrative IYOH?

This is a bit of theorycrafting since neither mechanic are available yet, but what do you think? Will being a futuristic Fred Sanford be more fun than a heavily armored mobile gas station?

Thoughts? GO!

We're on the same page. My thoughts are trending towards exactly what you posted. Gonna wait for a few more points of view but you're in the Final Four, Nocturnal-Fowl-Who-Can't-See
Excellent.
Yeah, I just like the idea of being off in the unknown, tearing into an alien wreck that someone in TEST had found, looking for that piece of tech that'll make you rich. I dunno, there's something about salvage that makes me feel like Malcolm Reynolds, out there scavenging what can be found from the wreck of an enemy (or government) ship.

The only reason I at this point is because I am finally about to freeze my pre-release fleet. I've been distilling my CCU creds down to what is essentially a heavy industry fleet of fuelers (StarG and Vulcan), armed haulers (Carrack, StarG, and Cutlass), and brigands (Cutlass and Herald). Thinking of adding salvage to the mix. Also, I forgot that I own a Prospector so I also got mining down. I bought then melted a Pioneer and I am now saving real world dead Presidents and whatever leftover creds I can get to bring it back into the fold. So the StarG is on my chopping block but I feel a sense of loyalty to such a legacy beast.

Happy Easter btw

I like to fly the reclaimer on a circuit around all the moons and land back at olisar(it let's me practice running away from scary pirates). Just as I was about to jump to Cellin(last stop before home), I get a CTD. Now I have to wait 8 hrs to get it back, because flying missions and hauling cargo don't pay diddly so you can't expedite delivery of the new ship. I can't imagine the StarG or any other large ship is going to be much different. Until they finalize the economy, ALL my big guys are gonna be hangar queens. I swear, It's like obama ran for imperator and turned Crusader into a socialist worker's paradise!
