Freelancer - Hype

So... i'm so ready to start playing Star Citizen that I'm going to start diving into some of the previous CR titles. And what better one to do so in than the "Freelancer". I have found this website. It's a free download. Who wants to go through the experience with me?

I like that in the link you posted, one of the pictures for Freelancer is a picture of the Freelancer... from Star Citizen.

Please tell me this is an easy instal no cd required to play. My copy of Freelancer is being used by one friend and can't use it now......... I need to recover it, now..... and kill people, and cats..... yeah that will make it. :eek:

yep easy to install no cd required. just run the auto run file. installed mine last night. I'll be playing it tonight... Can't wait. I'll also be testing out to see if I can set up a server. :)

It will be installed once I get home, I made an ISO of the original CD when it got scratched up(had to borrow a friends multi burner, and do it on linux to get a working image, but hey). How does Win10 handle it?

God damn, that Defender. So much nostalgia.

Really need to install a rebalance mod, though, so you can carry that Defender with you through most of the game, instead of being forced into Rheinland ships towards the end of the campaign... Or the Anubis.

Just starting this up. Barely pulled my ass out a fight that was WAY too high level for me and got away. Trashed a bunch of rogues that were after me. Fun stuff!

Do you have a server running or are you just doing single player?

I plan on setting up a server as soon as I get home and figure it out :)

After looking into it. It will be possible to set up a server, but it will take a little work to get set up. We also will need to install another program to simulate a local network, or we have to edit each client file. I think using logmein hamachi is our best option. I'll give more detail once I get home. Doing this on my phone is taxing.

Try checking the-starport.net. It's a sort of hub for Freelancer modifications. It should have a mod there that doesn't alter the vanilla game, but points it to a different global server for hosting internet games.
