Please notice that Legionnaire is available for 100USD and listpriced as 120USD
so it is even better bonus than Mule --> 325 --> Herald (each giving 5USD)
Am I right?

I have been doing a lot of research and also doing my CCU chain. I am using Polaris as a target to build the CCU chain. Using Mule as basis or Herald here is what I have found:

@FZD I was looking at 600i for upgrade towards and I can not find that in the ship upgrade list. Do you know why is that? I have started to use Polaris as my upgrade target.

In a way, yes. If you're doing a chain you want to effect immediately, it's certainly better. But if you're doing a long term chain, you could get Mule -> X1 Force (at the next IWL, I figure this'll go up $5 at a later date, when X1 Force becomes flight ready. A gamble's a gamble though). Then grab a Avenger Stalker -> 325A (So if X1 DOES go up in price, you can still get a CCU TO Stalker from it, to complete that bit of the chain). And throw in a Herald as well. Then, next IWL we might see a ship at around $100ish get a $10 WB discount and if you're really lucky, another $10 WB discount at $120ish (probably at a date later than that though). So there's up to $35 potential discount on a chain up to $120ish if you go from the Mule. But again, that's bit of a gamble, and you'll be waiting to apply that CCU chain for years. So if you want something a bit more immediate, Legionnaire is better (and the best possible difference is just $15 anyhow). But if you like to bonsai the best possible discount, I'd go with the Mule.

600i isn't a military ship per se, it's a luxury explorer / touring ship that just happens to have a lot of firepower. It'll be available at IAE, that's closer to xmas.

Perfect. I will use Polaris as the ultimate goal. There are so many options in the middle that I can change the target without losing too much.

Yes and no. There was a Nomad warbond CCU that came with an LTI upgrade (as opposed to the 120-month insurance upgrade you can get now) when Nomad first came out. There's probably heaps of these CCUs still in the gray market, but it doesn't seem like CIG are planning on making another CCU opportunity like that, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

That being said, 120-month insurance is fairly close to an LTI anyhow. I mean, it's unlikely that insurance costs would be all that big of a money sink to begin with, and even then you got coverage for 10 years post launch, which is like... a long time. And who knows, maybe somewhere 5 years after the launch, they'll cave in and offer like $10 insurance upgrade packs or something.

So, I'd suggest getting a few Mule LTI tokens for your big ships, and getting an 120-month upgrade for your game package ship (and then keeping that at a more modest value, like under $200).
Or if you really want LTI on your game package for novelty reasons (I know I got one of them warbond Nomad CCUs when they came out just for that purpose), you can search the gray market. You'll probably have to pay quite a premium though, so it might be more logical to go with the 120-month upgrade.
I just used a Nomad warbond CCU just two minutes ago....Now I have Retaliator bomber...MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

As for the tokens I planned my fleet out, grabbed what I wanted immediately by way of Nomad CCU train (during the sale) then have the rest left over to pick up ships as needed and kept two spare for just in case anything unexpected in the future. There was only one ship cheaper than a Nomad that I wanted (Mustang Delta) so used a MULE as an LTI token, with a MULE left over for MULE'ing around.

It seems at this rate the only people who'll be paying for full insurance will be those who jump on at the last minute before the PU is released as a final product.

@FZD Ok, I pulled the trigger on 2 Mules, 1 Legionnaire, and a bunch of war bonds to start filling out a chain to a couple of multi-crew large/cap ships down the road. Thank you and others in this thread who gave comments and provided help. Learned a lot and am excited about this mini CCU game to build out my ship fleet. :)

Going to go slow and enjoy each ship in the chain and have fun.

No worries - I got a little bored and came up with this table which may be a better option for planning (concept options not included if the same price or higher than "limited" ships, concept and limited are not included if same price or higher than permanent ones) - "concept" comes with greater risk of reduced savings if you plan to hold CCU for some time, "concept" and "limited" ships are also only available at certain times each year, "release" ships CCU may continue past the end of the event, but that is not confirmed:

Of note: a warbond Hurricane (or Constellation Taurus) -> Defender CCU with a credit Defender -> Scorpius CCU give the same savings as a Hurricane (or Constellation Taurus) -> Scorpius Warbond CCU (which is still available to purchase, and comes with 120 months insurance), but requires less new cash outlay.

Holy carp, what'd you do? Did you start from like a referral Glaive or something? :wut:
That's not mine :) (see text under the picture^^)

This guy used 0$ CCUs at the time he said. I dont know what is the chain though.
The 40$ one is applied on a pack for sure, because of the 15$ difference with the others in the total MSRP price (565 vs 550, seems his CCU Game is not yet updated to the new 600$ price, so it should be 600/615 showing on that picture on the left column).

That means if he wait for BMM price jump at 700, he can probably make a Polaris for 90$ 🤩

Ohh, missed that bit. Hmm, it has got to be some referral reward used as a starting point... like, even if he used a PTV as a starting point, that'd be $15. Leaving $25 for CCUs, which is 5x$5 CCUs. Even if it was to concept BMM at $250, he'd need to get like $45 discount on every single CCU. That's not possible, you'd actually just have like Hull B and Taurus that come close to that over that stretch. So must've been like a referral Gladius at least.

I would remove the PTV scenario for PTV as token, as you can not upgrade a PTV.

I really think his BMM at 40$ is from a package, as a package without discount are +15$ more MSRP than the ship they contain, which explains the 565 MSRP instead of 550$. A referral can not explain the +15$ in MSRP as they are counted as standalone MSRP price for upgrades.

There used to be extremely cheap game packages for 15$ in the old days (MSRP valued around 55$ now?), then I guess with luck and those 0$ CCUs and warbond, he made it that cheap.

All the others (the one at 75$, 110$ and 120$) are standalones (not in a package) since the MSRP is equal to the BMM price (550) just before its price jump this Alien week.

110$ and 120$ were within reach until recently (if you had a bunch of old CCUs stocked in hangar).

Ohh, I didn't know that about packages, not really paid attention to that. So it could be literally pretty much anything upgraded to BMM... Hmm. Well, in that case, the $75 one is much more impressive, though, again, could be upgraded from a referral reward.
