Should have been the classical small/medium/large. 4 just feels off to me somehow.

While I get where your train of thought is heading, may I still remind you that even size 4 builders might not enable us to build a deathstar?
There might come a time when we even need a size 5 or bigger.
You know, the Bengal BLD or something like that...
As for simple basebuilding, I'll probably build my home out of empty barrels.
We sure have enough of those.

I'd love to build a base inside of a mountain, concealing its solar cells in the surrounding area in an "abandoned" nature observatory that outlooks the beautiful scenery. Hoping that it'll seem as though nobody is there, while cozy right underneath. Bonus points if I manage to "bat cave" the hangar entrance behind some sort of waterfall or something.

I just hope that waterfalls make into the game. But, a home built into a mountainside would be epic!
