As the title says what are some top tier ships in this category? Anyone know how Bounty hunting will work ? Will you be going after ships(elite dangerous) or the people in them ? Meaning i have to board their ships and capture them and engage in fps fire fights ? It's hard to buy a ship for a job when you don't know what all you will encounter preforming the task.

I have not played the game in ages so i don't know much of the changes that are live or rolling down the pipe line so kind of clueless. School will be ending soon so I will be playing again which I look forward to .

Edit: And no i will not be buying a Prowler.

Well, bounty hunting hasn't been exactly fleshed out, but we can always read the signs...or the stars...or...the Auroras' explosions.

We know we got systems for stopping other ships, boarding them and transporting whatever prisoners we take and their pets. So we definitely know it ain't goin' to be a simple point and shoot activity, like in ED. But it can be.

Now, regarding what ship would be best...I guess it'll depend on what kind of bounty hunter you'll want to be.

I'm assuming for a solo bounty hunter, taking prisoners alive would be difficult and would present very high risks. I find it hard to believe you'd be able to run solo and fill up the human cargo hold of an Avenger or a Cutlass Blue in one run. So...I'd say the best ship for this would be a Super Hornet, as it allows you to kill more easily, and it also has that second seat, which was advertised as being capable of prisoner transport. Now...how I would convince a prisoner not to steal my ship if he gets in first, or not to run away while I do it...beats me at this point.

If you're thinkin' about takin' prisoners alive (assuming it pays better), I'd say you'll need to be hunting in a team, as none of the current ships possesses the ability to do everything. The Warlock doesn't have prisoner cells, the Stalker and Cutlass Blue don't have the EMP capabilities of the Warlock, and none of them have very good fighting abilities. I'm under the impression the Cutlass Blue will have heavier weaponry and will be able to mount more sophisticated systems (the EMP sort), but I'm guessing it'll also be lacking good speed and agility, so any target that you could take down in it, will also be able to escape you with ease. However, at this point in time, this one seems to be the most dedicated and potentially useful for bounty hunting.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm considering getting a Stalker, only for prisoner transport...or smuggling. I like my cargo quiet, and I'm under the impression that an Avenger would be a tad stealthier than a Cutlass, considering size and cryo pods. I was goin' to get a Blue, but then I realized that kinda' puts me on the...wrong side of the law.

This is something i've been mulling over for some time and have come up with the bellow

At minimum
super hornet for the lock down seat You will be able to bounties in there although jkumping out the ship grabbing the bounty in eva and returning them seems difficult and if you need to capture bounties on a planet it may be more difficult to just fly a hornet anywhere and its carrier based fighter
so wont have much range unless you dedicate upgrades for range witch will mean losing out on something else

Avenger
Slightly better option but will be outgunned most of the time
should have good range comes with pods for bounties and looks badass
Also has bed witch is a plus for logging out from the middle of nowhere

My two ships of choice
The cutlass blue and the freelancer Mis

My Cutlass blue has LTI so will probably be my go to ship

Plenty of room for hardpoint you can get prison cells for them and well armed/fast enough

After the remodel it will be able to fit a drake dragon fly in the back witch will be useful for getting bounties on planet and in eva as it can do both

I imagine a lock down seat will be created for it to stick bounties on the back to take back to your cutlass

Freelancer MIS essentially the same as the above really well armed and with so many missiles i will be trying to get EMP missiles asap Its got xian tec in so its very advanced and again can fit a dragon fly in the back

I will use the cutlass for most jobs but if the target starts getting too big like a connie i may switch to freelancer for all the missiles that will hopefully be EMP and a mix of low sig engines and good weapons and a turret to boot,

These should be able to catch most ships obviously nothing like a saber or 350r for that you would have to be smarter

After this i would probably go for a vanguard or redeemer but they cant fit dragonflies in to the cargo bay by my knowledge, so you lose some atmo versatility for sheer firepower

Anything bigger with more crew like a banu merchantman bounty you would need players/npc to help out with or maybe a connie for speed and missiles and forward facing guns for chasing it down

If you need a bounty hunting bro give me a shout!

Ps. Good don't buy one because its garbage for bounty hunting haha!

In the ship matrix, I guess all the ships that are tagged with militia/patrol/interdiction/bounty hunting would do, but the most notable for solo play would be the Avenger Stalker, the Cutlass Blue and the Freelancer MIS.
If you want to bring people back alive, get something with holding cells (Avenger Stalker, Cutlass Blue).
If you don't take prisoners and just want to take out, any combat ship will do.

The Avenger should be fine so long as you don't get into a real dogfight with it. It has decent guns but can't take a hit. The Hoplite is probably the best 1-5 player bounty ship. It is fast, powerful in atmo (where you will often find people), has a solid hull, great shields, great guns, great missiles and enhanced missile lock systems, appears can be made somewhat stealthy, has room for multiple prisoners and extra hands (NPC's as well as additional players), and is specifically long range, which is key to any searching task. It can be handled by one person and by contrast the Redeemer cannot. If I were taking live bounties I would want a Hoplite and 4 NPC marine/mercenary type thugs.
