Note I didn't say it was bullying just the victims might see it that way. Han Solo is the usual loveable rogue not uncommon in films where the establishment is the victim.
I think griefing in this game will not be as easy as some think, although it will happen as it does in every game in some form, large orgs like ours should not have an issue as I can almost bet dozens of people will fly out of their way to hand said griefer their ass hehe and I think griefing will be smaller when it comes to numbers, now organized piracy will be down right scary especially if its a large org I can't wait to see some videos of this and at the same time hope I am never on the receiving end lol

If I'm in the equation, it'll involve at least one ship being blowed up... my own. I'll totally self-destruct! I'm a scarred mad-man! I gave up enough lunch money when I was a kid, I won't be handing it over as an adult. Not even in a game. I wonder if my refusal to play along will be considered griefing? I predict I'll be a "Death of a Spaceman" mechanics expert in short order. 😉
I am with you on this, if a ship is being pirated or griefed whats to keep the guy from just blowing up his ship and say nah you aint gettin this shit today! lol

Let’s not go down the code of conduct hole, that way lays lots of posts in #Drama and bans for being belligerent dicks.

I was previously part of one of the larger piracy orgs. Piracy is not yet a thing and events showed that realistically there’s little difference between piracy and griefing for most.

Piracy needs AI to work or players are going to be pissed all the time. Getting rolled by bored people isn’t enhancing anyone’s game play experience.

They talked about this and the ability and how emp might be able to disable your ship from even being able to self-destruct or make it harder for you to self-destruct as it prevents the possible payout for the risk the pirates incurred .

CIG has been rather vague in their handling of the pvp part which I think is mostly due to wanting to have us be the guinea pig as they start to implement security systems and reputation.

Reputation will be everything and will have different layers based upon factions and regions. Security forces can come in a number of ways from regional like the UEC, local militia and even local private security forces like Port Olisar could have a private security force hired by crusader industries to protect their interests.

They have also talked about how the sat com network will also impact ones ability to call for help, which would allow pirates to do coordinated attacks by taking down a sat com setting up an interdiction site and bug out before local security is aware. In fact it might be possible to do all of that with out leaving a trace and thus no rep hit.

This is all to say that we really don't know as CIG has said they have ideas but that is all they have so far and are planning to work with us as they start to implement it.

It's gonna aggravate me, but it's what I'm signed up for and invested in. Good that I have plenty of time to reconcile myself with the potential situations. Alcohol should help too. I'm a happy drunk. ✌

All the more reason we need a quick response team in place so when piracy or griefing occurs we got a squad of badass's ready to go!! :P
I've been pondering this. I do not think we will be able to reasonably respond to SOS given the great size of each system. Example the time it takes to fly between PO and Hurston will prevent you from coming to the recue of a friend who is getting held up by a pirate. Unless you can somehow stall for half an hour the only help that would be able to assist would be the escort ships that you brought along for the most part or those who happen to be in the same area.

Ya I agree unless its a larger force where the battles tend to take a longer time smaller skirmishes will most likely be S&R hehe but I always thought a disc channel where people could jump fairly quickly and say hey I am getting pirated or griefed anyone near X to lend a hand does not hurt and if by chance a few guys are close enough you just might save and score some stuff.

Even if you were to have a few carriers in each system, even if agent smith turns out to happen, it would require one to have lots of usable ships on the carrier plus lots of NPC's that can be taken over by players who were available to provide assistance. But this still does nothing to address the in game times it takes to fly anywhere even with in the same system. Right now just to fly between Hurston and Port Olisar is averaging 15 mins and that is from Quantum jump point to jump point not including travel time to their location say at Jumptown.

So while it might be expected that larger fleet engagments could last long enough for reinforcements from players in the system its not really expected that a pirate would allow you to stall for 15 to 20 mins with out getting very trigger happy.

There are two scenarios. 1. Pirates don’t show their org in which case we work back from their handle. 2. Pirates show their org in which case we have a quiet word.

We use org tags, set the expectation of our response, and be consistent. We have the resources in-house to create effective promotional material to illustrate why TEST is best.

This is a reasonable [concern] post, but on this topic (self-defence) our mains don’t need to be. Trust in Montoya and what we’re all building.

We got you bro

What if they have a system where for X amount of crimes committed by individuals in an Org the percent chance rises of some kind of an NPC Advocacy investigation into the Org to arrest more criminals in the the Org. As long as the Org cooperates somehow with the investigation then the Org saves face and doesn't take a big longstanding hit on rep. This could be done as interactions with the Org leaders and officers through messages or conversations with the Advocacy and allow you to either cooperate or try and cover things up. That way an Org could either play as a legitimate business or criminal enterprise, they can either save face an distance themselves from crime or play like a mafia and run a shady Org. I'd say that individuals could stay in the Org as it's up to the Org weather they'll allow convicted criminals in their Org.

Would be an interesting take on things allowing for the organization you are a part of also weigh in on your rep especially if you have no personal rep with the faction prior to your first meeting. Could also be helpful with org mates helping to establish trade partners that you could then take advantage of due to your association. But it does complicate things especially with giant orgs like test were your rep could be tarnished due to other org mates less then legal activities affecting other org mate’s attempts to go about establishing and maintaining good relations with trade partners.

Ya I always wondered how interpiracy within an org would be handled or how people associating with a known pirate even if he were in your org will that effect your rep even if you were on a mission that was legit but the person you are with has bad or questionable rep hehe all questions to early to ask but seeing how I have nothing to do atm I find it fun just to bullshit about it. :P
