Well, lets put the fun aside for a moment and talk about facts. For all of you who are not into the PTU currently, I'll take the liberty to write about my experiences I've made within and around GrimHex, the pirate base, which is about to be released within mini-PU version 2.5.

First question: how to get to GrimHex? Well, thats the easy part: just shoot another player outta space OR deactivate a comm array. As soon as you have Crimestat level 1, you can choose GrimHex as QT destination.
GrimHex ist positioned behind Yela. But, most easiest way of all: once having crimestat level 1 - kill yourself. You then awake at GrimHex.

Now, my experiences so far within PT(!)U(*).

Rule No.#01: Do not trust anyone!

That were good times, when you could get into the airlock together with other StarCitizens, for the commonly walking to your waiting ship. These times are over at GrimHex!

  • The first time I walked into the airlock together with another user, I noticed a little bit too late that, once the inner door is shut, you can use your guns. A second later I got shot in the back! Thus, always keep at least one eye on the other player - best case, only get alone into the airlock.
Rule No.#02: Do not trust anyone, not even possible friends!

  • There were times, when you could start multicrewed ships with other players, fly around, having some fun. Not at GrimHex. My advice: only fly alone. Once you opened your ship, even if you have "agreed" with another player to run together to your ship and fly together, you almost can be sure to become a bullet in your back.
Rule No.#03: Keep vigilant - shoot first!

  • I strongly recommend NOT to run blindly on the airfields. There are snipers all around! When planning to get safely to your ship, use yourself your snipergun and scan carefully the airfield. But be sure to make it fast - always have one ear and eye behind you! For the next player will come outside and shoot you right in your back! After successfully scanning the airfield - run! And make sure a) to use the shadowed areas and b) if in doubt - shoot first.
At GrimHex, the price of living is eternal vigilance.

Have fun at GrimHex!

(*)...I marked it with a "!" because my suggestion is, that once mini-PU is getting live, things will only getting worse. I'm just sayin' - ye be warned.

Some additional information:
- for Kareah is the only possible location to get rid of your crimestat level, it is highly overrun by pirates and security.
- the space around GrimHex is as dangerous as the station itself. Again: trust noone. And be sure, to punch the boosters once you started your ship. Otherwise you are respawning at GrimHex way too fast.

The whole crimstat thing gives me hopes for my career idea in the verse.

Before joining TEST as a main member i had my own organization thats main purpose was criminal reform.

A safe place where players that wanted to come back from their miss deeds and become functioning members of the verse.

With the way the system works now. The concept of armed and assisted criminal escorts to lower their crimstat is a very doable thing. I only imagine it will get more in depth with time too.

What im saying is You can trust me you dirty scoundrels

Bad experiences turns everyone into a bad person, sooner or later. After the third respawn at GrimHex, I shot first - and survived.
That said, I have to admit: I don't like the station nor the action at GrimHex. Its fun to have some shootouts at Kareah; if you want some, you can get there and do some pvp-pewpew-action. But every second of the game, even at your home base? Nah, I couldn't get used to it up to now. On the other side: once a criminal, you have no other choice. Thus, I like that profession idea of @Reyalp CB4 - makes sense for me, as an example, because I really would like to erase my crimestat but having zero chances to do that because of this situation at Kareah currently: you are shot instantly, so to say. And thats only PTU!

we are going to need multiple accounts to get the full SC experience, just like Eve Online

it will be a pain in the butt to rehabilitate an outlaw character in order to participate in legitimate activities in monitored space.

so if you want to do piracy and trading, for example, it will be much more convenient to have a specialized character for each

you can shuffle money and resources between characters as needed

the imposition of (semi)realistic travel times will make it advantageous to have characters in several locations also

one day I might want to just dogfight and blow shit up - the fighters are going to gravitate to one system where they can find each other

another day I might feel more sociable and join a crew on a big exploration ship - it will likely be based somewhere else

much simpler to have a character in each place than to lose play time to traveling
