So this Halloween or for our over seas friends "National American Costume Party where Houses Defend Their Homes with Candy" or "NACPHDTHC" for short

I have been noticing a trend of "Half assing" a costume. You know some teen or kid that has... well normal everyday clothing carrying a backpack just shows up and because they said the words "trick or treat" is entitled to some...

Well Next year I am going to Combat this. i have the idea that i am going to reward the ones that do it right (Regardless of age) because adults want candy as well.

you show up and you look normal like you did not even try... your going to get the shitty cheap candy. (we are talking good and plenty to them non brand by the pound like taffy... or dare i go the distance and buy toothbrushes with a note of warning that says you must be poor for Halloween so have a free toothbrush instead)

you show up in costume either bought or made your self congrats you put effort into it and you get the chocolate...and you get the chocolate...and you get the chocolate.

now yes there is the very rare Big brother escorting around the little brother... little bro is all dressed up, big bro is Not.... give big bro the candy... he is doing his service to make sure the little one gets his day

what do you guys think?

I want to know when the tradition of giving out candy started.
Off the top of my head, I would guess it is either related to A. "Offerings" to keep the bad spirits and stuff away, or B. Since its harvest time, theres an abundance of crops so the farmer would give food to the townsfolk

I always feel like I'm bribing people with candy to stop by my house and see MY Halloween costume.

And next year, I'm totally doing the one shot bottles of liquor for the parents.
