*cogh* ...lets wait for the lineup, I suggest. There definitely will be low-power-silent-kind-of-cards, especially those by nVidia. Take this as an example:

The power consumption of the Maxwell architecture with 980 GPU reaches (in this case) from 177 watts up to 280 watts - thats a 100 watts difference!
PLUS the watt consumption can be influenced by the GPU cooling systems (besides of factory overclocking), which will always change the power consumption. So lets wait and see. I'm 100% convinced that especially Pascal will bring us very interesting partner cards until end of this year ;)

From what I have seen/heard the new cards should not be lower power but instead do more with the same power envelope.

EDIT: The last two gens have seen huge leaps in lower power draw and currently making things like this possible :)

yeah but some websites already posting stuff like single 8 or 6 pin connector for the card so it's better to wait it out
