Hey, uhm, I'm pretty sure I listened to BoredGamer or SuperMacBrother (or I'm mistaken and it was somewhere else) go over some Star Citizen news, think it was related to some sort of Q&A with dev answering questions about master modes.
There was a question about how master modes will affect larger ships, and the answer, if I recall, contained a mention about how it'll be harder to kill larger ships, something like few light fighters won't be able to deal with a hammer head, that the role of light fighters is to fight other fighters and that you'd need more specialized equipment if you wanted to assault a larger ship.

I started wondering what exactly was said, but now I can't remember where I heard that! D:
Does anyone else recall hearing anything like that, and where exactly might've you heard it?

Thanks!

In one of the recent videos John Crewe addressed the question. There wasn't much detail but the underlying idea is that big ships should not feel too threatened by smaller ships. Armor, weapon changes, resource management, turret improvements, and the much higher durability of larger ships is expected to dramatically reduce what light fighters can do to them. Assuming they are manned, of course.

More information to come!

Only rhubarb I'm down for is the kind made with strawberries and put in a homemade pie crust.

I don't care how advanced MT's technology is, I doubt they can make a ship hull taste that good.

@FZD - That's my understanding as well. I saw the video that you're referencing but I can't seem to be able to locate it as reference. But, yes, I seem to remember that small ships will have progressively diminished returns from laser/balistic hits on larger ships due to small gun size vs increased armor thickness.

There was one video during the CitizenCon that showed a fighter disable one of a Hammerhead's turrets.

I like the direction that they're going in. Larger ship turrets will have a harder time taking out small nimble fighters due to turret tracking speeds, while small fighters will have a significantly difficult time penetrating larger ships thicker armor. But small ships can weaken larger ships by targeting their offensive capabilities...allowing other large ships to take advantage of that situation. Really forces teamwork to take out enemy large ships.

I 'think' that this is what they are shooting for?

I view it in a bit of a circular manner, light fighters work best against heavy fighters, but can't do much damage against the larger ships & Caps. Heavy fighters are most effective against larger ships & Caps, but weak against agile light fighters. Caps view light fighters as annoying mosquitos in need of swatting but tend to focus on the turrets eliminating any heavy fighters 1st while saving their main weapons for other Caps & large ships.

Don't forget bombers which will be a threat to large and capital ships but are easy pickings from light and heavy fighters. There is also turret size rotational speed and effective range all things captions will need to figure out prior to launching from dry docks.

I'm also sure all of these levers will be tweak for years to come as new meta is developed and play balance from the dev team to push things back towards the intended target.

All of these are very good points to remember.
