How are older ships built in game without prefabs?

Bad news... (I took a break from hornet to work on MPUV cargo which has SOC files)
the gd SOC files DO NOT contain all build information as I read somewhere on the old forum (I think)..
they do however contain the parts of the ship which will essentially be the "mini-level" of the ship.
That is, the area's you can freely move around on inside.
But thrusters, engines... SOL...
It absolutely amazes me, that after ALL these years.. no one has posted any progress when dealing with this.
... i'm dumb founded tbh.. don't even know what more to say.

So I worked on @Red_Raven 's advice to start figuring out how to fully convert SC's serialized XMLs to standard Wavefront MTL format.
First of course unserializing with Alluran's tool.
I made the following PasteBins today.

Star Citizen - How to convert XML material blocks to MTL
https://pastebin.com/B3e0R04X

Star Citizen 2.5 Aurora MTL converted from XML to MTL
https://pastebin.com/Hzgrqd6P

The conversions I could use help figuring out are
Height map
Environment maps (used for reflections I believe)
Pom settings
Tiling settings

The "official" documentation reads as rather incomplete to me.. but then again I'm new at doing anything like this really.

So after importing an Aurora from 2.5, using the current incomplete converted MTL, it's a pretty damn good start!
Albeit not a huge time saver yet... as we'd need a script to do all these conversions to really save us some time.
