The pledge store has had Hull E CCUs available for about a week, though I wasn't really paying attention and only noticed yesterday.

CCUs to the Hull E were apparently available in the distant past, I guess when it was launched. For the last five plus years (until last week) it was only sold outright (no CCUs), two or three times a year in 'limited' quantities during IAE, Invictus and the like, and with 10-year insurance. I pledged for one with 10 years insurance during IAE in 2022 (sorry, 2952). Time to melt it, upgrade another ship with LTI to a Hull E, and take some store credit.

I currently have an LTI Hull D which I could upgrade to a Hull E but I'm not sure if I really want to be responsible for hauling 20k+ scu of gear and items😂. I should imagine it's a great content creator as it'll be a giant magnet for pirates/enemy orgs/opportunists alike and will need quite the security team to transport.

Fear not!
At the rate development is going the SCU payload of the Hull-E will not leave the 4-digit range.
Apparently someone at CIG noticed that a single Hull-E as in concept loaded with player mined minerals might crash the "player-driven economy" (TM) on arrival at any given port of call.
So they had the most brilliant idea ever.
Slim down, slow down, shut down!
The Hull-E will carry only about twice as much cargo as the Hull-C.
It runs at around 55m/s (80m/s Boost)
It can't use NAV mode due to reasons.
Now have fun experiencing those space trucker vibes to and from the the jumppoints. 🤠

Yeah, I've been looking at the CCU for about two weeks now. I really wanted it in the distant past, but after they nerfed Hull D and E because "cargo gameplay isn't fun" I kinda lost hope of them having any plans of improving cargo gameplay. I bought couple CCUs with store credit just in case, but I don't feel like putting in fresh money even with a $75 discount. Idk, maybe I'll change my mind tomorrow, but I haven't for the past two weeks.

Yeah, after the nerfs it does take away the 'shine' off wanting to haul huuuuge amounts of cargo. But if it does crash economies then it's quite understandable. That being said it's 500 ISH towards the CCU of another large ship that I could possibly enjoy more. Suppose it's a wait and see game as things are always subject to change

I wonder if them holding the Hull D back might mean that it will be re-concepted.

Rather than being just a 'bigger Hull C and 'smaller Hull E', might they make the Hull D into a large Hull B?

I have the Hull D with a Hull E CCU sitting in my hangar. I don’t have a Hull C. My logic is the Hull D can haul more and is basically the same ship as the C (bigger but with more shields) and I solo just fine in the C what’s stopping me from soloing a D? Now I am sitting on the D-E CCU thinking well that same logic says maybe get the E and still be able to solo it. Tell me why I am wrong so I can melt the E CCU.
