Well done (if that's the right word) - and congrats! The 890J is one of the limited-hull ships I can't seem to get sufficiently excited about to spring for. I caved and got most of the others a while ago. The Kraken is the other main one I don't have - it is a bit tempting, but not this year.

What was it about the 890J that made you want one, @Brictoria? I see people using it for combat, role play, and even hard-flying. It's good-looking, and I guess it will be a decent mobile base (with spawn-compatible med-beds, unless they changed that again) for fleet ops. But it appears to be primarily designed to be a luxury sightseeing/passenger transport - is it better than the Genesis Starliner is meant to be, or the Constelation Phoenix, for that role? What am I missing and why do you like it enough to get one?

Due to the way I play, I've never had the opportunity to put together the funds for one in-game (This will likely be melted temporarily - thank you buyback tokens - To allow purchase of some other items including the Origin complete pack to enable an LTI 890 in the final fleet, should it and associated gameplay still be appealing when game releases), but I'm interested in the potential for passenger missions (Hence 2 LTI Phoenix - one normal, one emerald - E1, Genesis, and 600i-t in my currently planned final fleet).

At the moment I consider it to simply be a fancy Carrack: It sacrifices the entry/vehicle ramp in exchange for a lift (which is more secure), but provides better/easier access to cargo, and has a larger hangar, which make it slightly more useful overall, but otherwise the functionality is roughly the same: Well, at least until you need to find a landing area in the wilds...

This might seem stupid to some, but as a LONG time RPG player that has specialized in tanking, I'd love to see CIG come out with a military ship that instead of having heavy firepower, has large quantities of armor & multiple layers of shields to help block hits for other ships. Almost full power to shields with the rest to engines, act as a mobile shield for torps until just before impact & then RAM that ship hard at the impact site.

Come to thinke of it, you should be able to park a Syulen in an 890 Jump.
Height of the hangar and triangular shape, check!
Maybe you should refrain from closing the hangar doors...
But Damn, a Syulen in the white Di.iim paint poking out of the 890 Jump: Pretty Space Unicorn!

Yes, the Jav is supposed to have S12 torps. Odds are good they do more damage than any other weapon in game. I was just wondering about guns because one thinks more of trading shots with an opponent. I’m curious how a Jav would fare against three Idris.

Torps can be shot down. They’re quite slow and it appears at least at present they’ll need fighter escort to make it to their targets. Even with an escort, target turrets will have several seconds to try to eliminate them. This has made me curious about what might run as a shield of sorts. Can you back a Railen loaded with boxes of waste toward a target and absorb incoming S4 weapon fire? I think some odd solution may appear here; just not sure what it is. What can absorb 5 seconds of quad Revenant fire?
The Jav has 2 turrets with 4 size 9 guns each and a stupid number of size 7 guns (IIRC 3 dual turrets per side and a dual turret forward). Based on observations from Xenothreat, it appears that the size 9 laser turrets fire faster than the rail gun. Presuming good crews, unless you catch the Javelin unawares, or get lucky, my guess is 3 Idris won't fare very well against a Javelin. Put Eclipses on 6 of your 9 pads to soften up the Javelin before engaging.

In the real world Cap ships should always have escorts and, technically, Destroyers, Frigates and Corvettes, should be escorts.

Of course this is a game, and in games, full Task Force battles are unlikely. The most challenging aspect of running a capital ship, in the game, is likely putting together a crew that can play often enough together so they work well together properly manning these behemoths.
