They do not have a full active api yet as I know but shore hope that is something they consider including in the future.. :smile:
There is already a app that worked with 2.5 api on any android device where you had fast access to shield and some other function but it was sort of limited...

No not me, I don't use apple hardware, so don't keep track of software that well for it either. :D
Overall it is a fairly simple concept. I use REST all the time in job... it is simple GET and SETs which resemble http or https. GET pulls data like statistics and SET changes a value like 0 to 1 - toggle some setting.
