Forgive me asking for a clarification, but what I’m hearing you say is the steering is both drifty and unresponsive at high speed, but you’re driving it at high speed for hours at a time anyway?

You know I was expecting someone to call my antics ballsy or brave, just so that I could correct them that this was nothing but shear stupidity on my part. But I see you're too grown up for that lol.

But no not for hours. The whole autobahn part was like 40 mins and the.rest was just doodling along at 35mph in the towns. It was a short trip mostly at speeds that felt alright (around or under the speed limit) with short stints of high speed.
And to clarify the steering, it's like having a deadzone but then it gets very touchy. A bit like gamepad steering in a PC race sim like asetto. By default it has an annoying deadzone and then it just yanks the wheel to almost full lock. This has that kinda touchy feel, which it really has no reason to have if things were as okay as I was told they were. But something ain't right. Could be the rack itself, busted joints, bent arms, a bad setup...all.of the above.

Just to be clear after what I described I won't be running the car anywhere above the 110-120kph, where it still sounds and feels fine, and even that will be a short stint and only once to get me home from where I'm currently. After that its off to the shops with it to find out what thr real culprit is.
I'm not looking to die due to a mechanical failure, if I crash I want it to be my skill issue, not the cars fault. My ego wouldn't allow that lol.

Its been a crazy 2024 for me so I have been absent.
I think you now have an unofficial nick name of Lorddriftsalot....The BMW may not yet be where you want it but its an impressive and insistent vehicle that will not go quietly into the night.
There's a lot of positive improvements you have made so get it straight and stay far away from hospital stays Sir. Driftsalot.....:o7:

Made it home from the holiday, trip was uneventful.
Still having the same weird steering at speed, but while away in that town there was one particular intersection where I had to stop to take a right turn. Looked around, all clear, like really clear, it was rarely used route, then just accelerated and turned normally... had a small heart attack as I immediately went full oppo, and drifted like I was a pro on a car show shoot! There was something very very "wrong" with the asphalt on that one particular spot, it was like ice! Upon further inspection, it looked like it had the red crosswalk "paint" on it some time ago that got erased over time and now it's just smooth with almost no grip.
The next 5-6 times I had to take that route, I always made sure to take my time stopping at that stop sign, look around until it's fully clear as far as I could see, then punched it! God that was awesome! You could drift anything on that surface with literally zero talent (if I can, anyone can), all the while doing a max of 3mph!

Also, strange things happened. I let my kids climb into the driver seat and play around with the steering wheel, with the car parked in the backyard, keys in my pockets.
For some unexplainable reason, the remote locking now opens and closes the passenger door lock as it should, which had to be opened from the inside before.
Also when we tried to leave, (kids n wife in X3, me in the trashy coupe ofc), I turned on the ignition and the car went: Hoooooooooooooooooooooooooonk, until I shut it off. So the horn switch got busted. Thanks kids!

Getting ready for another storm "Milton"
Last one we went on a ride the day after but alas this one seems to be heading our way.
Good thing I stocked up on a few fresh bottles of Jim Beam :o7:

Well survived the storm and did not lose power or internet. I always lose power during these things but it was kind to us on my block. As the rain started to fade I washed the car and let mother nature rinse her off. She didn't do a bad job :like: And on a side note I saved some of the planet by getting my shower the natural way:drunk:
