So glad now my Orion will not be so lonely. They need to get out and socialize talking about the newest flavor of asteroid and how none of the graphic skins fit right.

I have a great idea to mine the highest quality metals.

It's risky but I recon it's possible.

So it consists of going into Vanduul space where enterprising humans haven't delved into the richest deposits and find a Kingship and mine it.

Can't wait to set out with a bunch of Orions, accompanied by fighters protecting them, on the most epic mining expedition.
Me too.

Big mining Ops will be an opportunity for the Idris to be of use. An Idris can support fighter craft and house fresh pilots that can rotate shifts. The fleet is made up of 5 groups that work together.

Extraction:

These are the 3 Orions, whose job is the centerpiece of any mining operation

Reconnaissance:

In this group, you have your two Terrapins at the outskirts of the fleet keeping an eye out for approaching ships while the prospector is making its way ahead to scout for good ore.

Patrol:

The patrol group would consist of three Sabres that will prowl the area around the OP as quietly as possible, looking for anything that the Terrapins may have missed or checking out objects detected by them.

Reactionary force:

This group consists of the 4 Superhornets and the Hammerhead. They will all hang around the main force (With the hornets likely parked inside the Idris on standby) and will bring the pain down on any enemy that is detected by the outer defenses. The hammerhead would remain near the Orions at all times to provide anti-fighter defenses.

Support:

This group consists of the non-combat craft and their escorts. A Starfarer will be on-site for refueling and a pair of Hull Cs (including their accompanying Defenders) will ferry the processed goods back to civilization.

An interesting fleet and one I would say would be a good start. Not sure if there is enough Orion's to justify the support staff and I am not sure if the 2 Hull C's would be capable of keeping up with the ore production.

The other thing to consider is the operating costs would it be more beneficial to have two Polaris or one Idris? And while the Hornets would be fast to engage the enemy it might be more beneficial to just utilize another Hammerhead. Especially if using Polaris as its guns could complement the Hammerhead when engaging smaller craft and two of them could easily converge to attack anything larger. This also allows the Orion's to spread out a little instead of being forced to be as close as possible to each other.
