Fishing is a tough business... the best way to end up with a nice little fishing business is to start with a huge one!

I currently know only one commercial fisherman... and its not his "full time" job

Believe me I know...
A million years ago.. back in 1979 and 1980. I used to deckhand on a salmon troller..
I made some very good money, but it was by no means "easy money"...
Now, there are many more restrictions on commercial fishing and because of this there are fewer and fewer people able to make a living doing this. The people who DO manage to eak out a living work VERY hard for their money and there are fewer and fewer support positions (deckhands) available. While I wish @Macaque the best of luck, I would recommend that other options at least be considered.
