As a professional copywriter (amongst other things), it's all about the asymmetry. It makes it a glaring mistake. Which then becomes ironic, because we're saying we're the Best Squadron, but we obviously aren't capable of giving enough shits to properly proof our recruitment poster. But then, if you know anything about TEST, you start to wonder if maybe the Squardon was intentional. It then becomes a brilliant bit of self-trolling.If we're doing Squardon we should go all the way, make it "TEST Squardon Best Squardon". "TEST Squadron Best Squardon" is just confusing. Personally I'd prefer Squadron the whole way round.
Off of the poster alone, the right kind of people will sign up, which makes it a brilliant recruiting device.
Montoya claims it's a mistake, but in reality the man's a marketing genius. Or he photoshops while drunk. Either way, a meme is born.
