Mining Heads
This card introduces 5 new mining lasers to the game, all with different stats ±. Some will transfer power faster but induce a lot more instability into the rock, while others will make mining more stable but slow down transfer. Some mining lasers will reduce the resistance levels of the rocks, making them ideal for cooperative gameplay, or will be incredibly powerful but more expensive. Work on these new components is nearing completion, resulting in the Mining Heads card being added to the Roadmap for Alpha 3.8.
This means we're going to have some variety for the Prospector soon and will make outfitting one with good components a more viable option than sticking to stock.

Torpid Mining (Charge Pulse)

Mine difficult deposits easier and faster with the Impact. It really bodes well for the other gameplay mechanics that they are going so granular with Mining. By just introducing the consumables mechanic, they have opened the floodgates for player creativity and strategy. I can't wait to see what gameplay principals they take from mining and bring into the other loops like hacking and crafting.

I look anywhere I see people posting in here they had success.
With a Prospector I have two areas I mine around Port Olisar (both on Daymar) one around Hurston's moon called Arial but it's a huge area, and also both moons of ArcCorp have a lot of areas but it seems more spread out than other locations. I don't have a lot of time to play SC nowadays... so I try to make the most of the time that I have. You can literally land on a rock worth 35K or more - but it's rare. But you should be able to find a rock worth 5-10K without really trying, if you land in the right areas.

On Daymar, try the area to the west and north of Dunlow Ridge around 25 km away. There's a spot there where they're almost always some good rocks. The other place I'm less sure of, I think it's east, and a little south of Tamdon Ridge. There are other spots that I've found there, but I can't remember where they are.
On Aerial, you want to be around and between the two mining bases. I fly away from the bases, or deep between them. Flying toward the bases can be good, but it's also relatively popular which can be bad.

FPS Mining can be lucrative too, I haven't quite figured out where is good vs bad, but I've made a bit of cash.

For FPS mining, the unmarked caves on Hurston are usually a great bet, most of the rocks are the best option with very few of the worst rocks, plus they usually have the least player activity.

Made a spreadsheet on the leaks and I'm loking what I see so far. Good combinations present themselves.
Just a few out loud thoughts about the laser heads only. The lasers which offer many pros and cons making the player make real choices when it comes to a Prospector. A Mole as you know can mount 3 so it becomes a game of trying to minimize the cons and emphasizing the pros in this combination of 3. And whats neat is that all 3 lasers don't always have to be running on one rock, maybe only 1 is needed for initial green zone breach and then is switched off to allow a more predictable laser(s) to take over for fracture. Nothing says all 3 must always be on for that one big rock though that will probably be the best challenge for a Mole crew.

Rocks themselves may in 3.8 have their own laser power factors which interact with the input energy beyond Instability and Resistance. That'll be something to TEST out. I think the main goal we should strive for is to figure out what 3 laser combo on the Mole will work out best for the most rocks that can be mined and then document it along with edge cases which may need different loadouts or support Prospectors helping.

Take this with a massive salt but there was a leak posted in discord about the Mole possibly having Size 2 mining lasers while the Prospector would have S1. My first thought was that it immediately puts it above and beyond the Prospector or a small group of them in capability as far as much larger rocks go. Then I wondered if the extraction lasers will allow us to pull in larger fragments during extraction without having to break the rocks down as small as we have to for the Prospector.

After that It seemed logical that we may see some very large rocks now to mine if the lasers really are S2. But they would have to be worth it.

Thing is = it's not really gonna work too well until they get the removable bags working and a way of actually sharing the ore profit properly. E.g. if you've got one or two moles on the go you're gonna need a freelancer max constantly going back and for handing the ore in and the mechanics are not there for that.
