They’re listed as pulling 18 gees. By way of comparison, I think the Arrow pulls 13 and the Arrow is hard to hit because of this combined with its small silhouette. This is half the size of an Arrow.

This thing is going to be VERY hard to hit and will outturn everything. With a good pilot it should scare the hell out of every other fighter pilot, and groups of them will be able to kill the Idris. Finding the best platform for them is key. I think the Polaris is due out end of this year? Imagine 12 of these in the Polaris bay. Absolutely terrifying. We won’t know until we see it strafe, but I think this in intended to outperform airframes in vacuum. It couldn’t hurt to do some wargame planning around this now.

My guess is the hidden nerf here is reduced longevity—it will run out of fuel mere minutes into a conflict. The counter for this is carry twice what you need, return and refuel them. Could be a Polaris can only field 6 of the 12 it carries at a time, but that is still better than 3 Gladius or 6 Arrows.
Gees are nice but you still run up against pilot status effects when pulling to many.

The arrow against turrets is hard and they are still working on turrets to get them to behave like they want.

But mostly it's a question about how much substained damage they will be able to dish out and how that will impact shield recharge and armor

I have a feeling that most battles will have quantum suppression to prevent this tactic
Doubtful, especially since it appears that is a very specialized and limited capability.

Note I didn't say fly without an escort to deal with a Mantis, Blue or Antares, that can go with you. Just that bombers should approach rapidly unload and leave.

Not sure I follow. Not sure how suppression is limited given there is currently three ships and the mantis is cheap.

I would imagine that bombers will want to get in launch their payload and get out quickly but 10k is still a long time in a combat zone especially when you will want to balance torpedoes flight time with risk of interception of both you and your torpedoes.

if the Inforunners can be believed, there is a rumor that this will be 120$. I suppose we'll wait and see if that's true, but that's... no.
I would highly doubt it reaches that sort of price, as there is nothing to really justify it - I'd be thinking it would be priced somewhere around (or below) the Arrow, and at worst certainly no more than a Talon.

The base Fury (4 size 2 hard-points, 4 size 2 missile points) has a similar (or slightly lower) armament to the Arrow (2 size 3 weapon hard-points, 1 turret with 2 size 1 hard-points, 2 size 3 missile points, 2 size 2 missile points), and while likely more maneuverable that the Arrow, lacks a quantum drive, limiting the "usefulness" of the ship for a solo player. All other component slots are also equivalent between both ships.

Even the addition of an "Alien tax" shouldn't push it to almost double the price of an Arrow...

There are three ships, I've seen one Mantis, once, and one Cutlass Blue, once. Granted the wife and I each own a Blue, but they don't leave the hangar.

They have a niche mission and unless something has seriously changed in the past year, nobody flies them.

I’m not sure how that would work. If you get the slowest of torps within 2 km or so, there isn’t much in game thus far that could get on a fresh target in the few seconds left and kill it. The real trouble is in jumping with enough precision to land 2km short of your target. That would take jump skills accurate to a tiny fraction of a second. In fact it will require some sort of bot I think—a third party micro-jump computer.

Cool thing to code. I wonder if it’s legal to sell that as a third party.

If they try and put it as 120 bucks, then they have some SERIOUS issues.

The Arrow at 75 bucks has a quantum drive, highly maneuverable, and has 3xS3 guns and 4xS3 and 2xS2 missiles. Yes, the Fury has 4xS2 mounts and just about the same amount of missile capability...except you can't go up in missile size IIRC and it can't go anywhere without a mothership.

I am going to wonder how they can possibly sell this for more than 80 bucks and expect people to buy it...

Without a Quantum Drive, $50 is about the top end of what it's worth.

I think people are discounting the coolness factor of a bubble fighter. How much does CIG get for the Razor?

I get the objections to it but I think if they charged $150 for the Fury certainly thousands of players would buy it. I wouldn’t, but I’d save in game for one.

We’ll have to wait and see but I think the price is going to reflect more how rare CIG wants the Fury to be than anything we might propose as an objective value. Seriously, isn’t the Razor something like 4X the price of the “luxury” brand M50? Yet there are plenty of Razors in game. They’re rarish compared to the Arrow, but they’re meant to be.

Cig can ask whatever they want for this and they’ll get it, if indeed it has the maneuverability that’s implied by the stats.

If I have access to six NPCs can they fly these from a player-controlled carrier?
There are conflicting reports as to whether the “”NPC Pilots” and “NPC Escorts” we’ve been promised will be able to fly player ships. They may be restricted to flying their own ships. No way to know yet. It does appear at present that player owned NPCs (NPCs from alt accounts) will be able to crew ships, but there’s been no statements I’m aware of that are definitive. Additionally, we know that player owned NPCs cannot like hired NPCs be killed, so there seems to be a lot of contradiction in the statements and no one really knows what it all means.

Some or all NPCs will be trainable and the higher their skills, the more expensive they’ll be, save for owned NPCs which you get when you purchase additional accounts. So one thing you can count on is that CIG is going to grant some serious bonus to players willing to plunk down over and over on starter kits. Some players will probably try to man Javelins by purchasing 70 or so accounts. Expect it to grow a little crazy.

not by themselves, but they will buy an AI that they train up to use with SC turrets and then have them crew the ship using alt accounts so they can fly their MSR, Connie, Tali, etc. with their AI crew…that will then hijack the ship and start the Cylon war in Star Citizen

CIG always said that player owned NPC (aka extra game package) will be exactly the same as hired NPC. They will die. The only difference is that you can customise their appearance (probably model). It's from the old 2013 clarification about owning multiple game packages and the original death of a spaceman (2013) and revised version 2021 iirc).

Having packages will just allow you to control the cosmetic part of hired NPC.

Here I got 35+ game packages for the only purpose of creating a crew of clones.foy my capitals :)

To my knowledge the idea of wingman hired crew was always a no no, no fleet control.

Obviously there is some confusion here. Tell me, if the NPC of an account dies, what happens to the account?

Account NPCs are actually PCs that aren't being "manned' at present, but can be manned in the future, so how could they die?

You can die, as a PC. An heir?
