1 - Didn't know that. I'll look more into it. I do like what I see from RTX and I usually play 4k on most games.
2 - It's a water cooler for the CPU. And I've noticed huge differences between it and air cooling. Rarely gets above 65°C. With fan it gets over 85°
What CPU aircooler were you using? You may also have bad case airflow.

Just an update for anyone that cares.

The crashing problems I've been having were the result of my PSU. I had an 850W Bronze and had overclocked my GPU. I thought the OC was only in effect when I had Afterburner open, but evidently it saves the last setting you had. Evidently the PSU was perfectly fine until I opened a much more graphics intensive game (ie my favorites). Which would result in the GPU losing power and getting what I can only find online as being called the Brown Screen of Death.

Just got and installed a new PSU, 1000W Gold, works perfectly and won't have to upgrade anything for a while longer! Wonderful news as my 1150 socket Mobo isn't produced anymore and the next step up (1151) won't hold my CPU, so I would have had to drop almost a grand to get a comparable CPU.

I'll probably post here again in almost a year asking for help building my new computer, but I'll have a budget by then.

So this is my current setup, I am curious what if any changes i could make to speed up and smooth things out, many times I get booted from the game or it freezes up without ever getting into a ship so I end up giving up on the game and not getting a chance to enjoy it, I think my current setup is more than enough to run the game but not sure if upgrading a few things might solve the problem or if maybe I am running something that is conflicting or just subpar any help is appreciated.

Current setup -

Monitor - BenQ XR3501 Black 35" 144 Hz 4ms
Case - Corsair Carbide Series Air 740 - High Airflow ATX Cube Case
MB -ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII HERO LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Gaming Motherboard
Ram - G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Intel Z170 Platform Desktop ...
Processor - Intel Core i7-6700K 8M Skylake Quad-Core 4.0 GHz LGA 1151 91W BX80662I76700K Desktop Processor Intel HD
Router - D-Link DIR-890L/R Wireless AC3200 Ultra Tri-Band Gigabit Router, AC Smartbeam technology
HD - SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2.5" 120GB SATA III 32-Layer 3D V-NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-75E120B/AM
GC - EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti DirectX 12 08G-P4-6678-KR 8GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI

I don't have much in the way of cooling other than some basic fans.

Thanks!

Are you hooked up to your router via a cable or are you wireless?

Also, what is your PSU, and what type of cooling do you use?

PSU - EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2 220-G2-0850-XR 80+ GOLD 850W Fully Modular EVGA ECO Mode Includes

Cooling is just a few stock fans and 1 added top fan nothing special.

Currently I run wireless but with ASUS PCE-AC88 4x4 Wireless AC3100 PCIe Adapter and D-Link DIR-890L/R Wireless AC3200 Ultra Tri-Band Gigabit Router, AC Smartbeam technology i usually get over 120ish mbps consistently I just ran a few speed tests and i averaged 128.7 down and 25 up I don't think its my internet but who knows.

I built the following, and it runs SC at ~60 FPS on high settings in flight and planet side.

Cost `$1750

Also toms Hardware has a comparable build for only 1450 with a complete parts list, as well as builds of all price ranges.
Happy gaming!
