I got a difficult request (maybe even impossible) to find a game that has the following: (sorted by importance)
1) Must be on PC
2) No 3d movement
3) multiplayer (2 or more)
4) peaceful (i.e. no combat/fighting, or at the very least simplified/cartoon-ish/no gore/etc.)

The game is for an ~8 yr old, and a 28 yr old girl (my fiance) that never touched a pc game in her life (all efforts to teach her how to tame the camera angles failed).
I honestly have no idea if there is a game that fits all that.... pls help

Minecraft is the first that comes to mind but not sure what you mean by 3D movement. Does jumping count as 3D?
Then there is Terraria which is similar but given its a 2D world allowing movement only along the x and y axis it would be more in keeping with no 3D.

ARK: Survival could be crafted on a private server with no PVP
Rocket League is another with limited jumping

Don't Starve Together... maybe?

Has some cartoon monster fighting, but no gore I'm aware of. The fighting is not the main mechanic, it's a survival game more about keeping your belly full without going insane. Not 3D, I don't think. Played the single player version ages ago, but there is a multiplayer version I never tried. They can build carrot farms together and make campfires, stuff like that.

Even though it's cartoon style, I don't know how much an 8 year old would like it. There are spooky insanity ghosts, maybe too spooky for 8? I don't know. You should maybe look at let's plays of it first.

(EDIT: If 3d wasn't an issue, I'd say check out Subnautica. No violence, other than running away from sea monsters. Beautiful to look at, though not sure it has multiplayer.)

Subnautica is terrifying in VR and no it's not multiplayer (unfortunately)

If the issue with 3D is camera angels, I think any first person game would suffice, as camera angels are mainly problematic with 3rd person views.

Anyhow, I'd also go with Minecraft. While it has some blocky monsters, I've played on servers where parents brought their young kids along. I think the youngest was a 7yo girl.

Oh, and you can disable all monster spawning if you want to get rid of combat entirely, then it's just a nice house building game with some resource collection aspects. Or you can mod it to... be pretty much anything. Look into Feed The Beast, there are a ton of modpacks there, I'm sure you'd find a peaceful fantasyworld. Or you could do your own modpack, that's a bit more involved but you can craft exactly the kind of experience you want. (One mod that I *highly* recommend to include in your modpack is "Not Enough Items", it helps to reduce the barrier of entry and makes the game less about checking recipes online)

It's really simple, really, but if you want help with setting up your own minecraft server, just PM me. I've been involved in that process quite a few times for various small to mid sized minecraft communities.

8yr old?

Minecraft is perfect.

Roblox is free, lots of different game options in there. Go try that!

As for movement control in Roblox, it may be tricky, but there is a first person mode mode by scrollin the mouse wheel, or if you click shift, it locks the camera mode so you dont have to use the right mouse button.

Check the settings in Roblox, it will make sense!

I did think of minecraft, but seeing as movement limitations might be an issue I didn't bring it up. But if there is any game to give to a new player on pc it'd be minecraft... I'll see if that will work too :see_no_evil:

Rocketleague
in the best of days I get dizzy from the camera in rocketleague, I highly doubt my fiance will cope any better (not that I think that girls are bad drivers, nothing to do with that at all...)

My son is 3, he is playing Roblox.

Kids are smart, they will figure it out faster than you and your fiance.

Source: My 5yr old has decorated her entire house in Meepcity Roblox and I have no idea how she did it.

Old people are stupid.

My gamer's pride will not allow me to admit to that lol, but yeah my fiance is the biggest challenge when looking for games tbh.

Factorio, if you turn the enemies off.
I'd suggest stuff like Rimworld or Stardew Valley, but neither of those have multiplayer.
If the camera thing's not too big of an issue, i'd say Portal 2 or Minecraft. Meadow, maybe, if you don't care about meaningful gameplay.
Human Fall Flat is a brilliant game, too.
Any of the Lego games should be good, if a little repetitive.
I hear the Trine series is really good.

Depending on your definition of peaceful, there's always this:

Stardew Valley is going to have multiplayer soon-ish (it's been in development for what? a year now?)
I've played it a lot, my wife played it a lot. We can't wait for us to be able to play it together.
@MegaMonkey - it doesn't check all the criteria, but have you considered the LEGO games? Harry Potter, LOTR, Pirates of the Carribean, Batman etc. My wife is really bad at video games (at moving in 3d space and aiming, mostly), but she handled herself pretty well in all the LEGO games.

And yes, we've played ALL the LEGO games.
