Here at TEST we are all about making your lives easier!

I would like to hear your feedback on the TEST Squadron experience.

When you joined, assuming you took your medications that day, what did you find confusing?

What did you have trouble finding?

What questions did you want to ask, but were too afraid to ask because everybody would thank that you were an idiot?

We are going to build a wiki addressing all these issues, you help is most appreciated!

I get thanked for being an idiot almost every day around here and with nothing more than beer, you can too!


Obviously I've been around here for quite some time now and given how often I am confused, I don't remember anything in particular standing out as confusing (other than the normal sense of dread that slowly permeated into the deepest recesses of my mind as I clicked the "join" button).

Keeping in mind that I haven't actually looked at it since I joined, I think that our overall onboarding experience could be expanded on. I don't think it needs "improvement" necessarily, but some automation or initial instruction could point new users towards our general activities. In every new user thread there's always people saying to hop on Discord or to check out our streamers and we definitely want to keep doing that(!), but we're not just a SC org at this point. There's plenty of other games that members play together, many activities on the forums to partake in, etc etc. Seems like having some kind of "welcome" page or pop-up after registering could be useful.

I'm just spitballing here, as I haven't really dug into things so I might be way off base, but you asked and in my confusion I answered.

Probably should post this one to the tech. area of the forum but maybe it's a known problem. If so it could be added to the wiki.
I get an error-notification when trying to install Discord.

Didn't find a fix yet :/

The Logs say "System.IO.IOException: Der Zugriff auf den Pfad "resources" wurde verweigert."
-Access to path "resources" was denied

When I joined via mass spam invite I think I looked at the org page and read through the propaganda IMPORTANT INFORMATION and pretty much made my decision right there. I don't recall having any questions but things have changed since then haven't they?

I would recommend the front of the wiki be at the very least a short Q&A: Who we are. Are we the same group from X game? What is our goal in the game? etc. Just as essential to the front page is a section on how to get on how to get on Discord and common problems installing.
Some stuff like that.

I was cock-eyed-drunk and still managed to find my way here, install discord (which I rarely use), and spend way too much time making an idiot of myself. It was smooth as silk . . .from what I can remember.

I'll hop on the bandwagon and second both what @EpilepticCricket and @Black Sunder have said. Perhaps a bit more breakdown on the Charter/Manifesto Pages. They are basically the same, 'cept for that little blurb at the beginning.

I can't think of anything beyond that. I was sold as soon as I found the Org page on RSI. Funny that a google search for "Star Citizen Organization for adults" ended up directing me to TEST. 3rd Google hit. So we're not the adultiest, which I think is, ummm, accurate. Yeaaaaah.

hmm try launching the installer with admin?

I know the discord thing confuses people still. The website versus the desktop client and even logging in and settings. Maybe make a step by step video that you can add to this wiki. I know a lot of people feel stupid having to ask that kind of thing so might just say screw it and not join us on voice coms :)

Before I started using it, I wasn't sure what to drink.

I have the solution.

If you were running Discord in the browser and tried to run the standalone app, but failed for some reason, its actually still running in your processes.

Go to Task Manager > Processes and look for discord, end that task.

Try install again and it should be good!

Wiki Idea.........Name all the Chris Roberts games, name all the ships in Star Citizen and Alcohol on the planet!!! With a link to Join....and we will have them in our grasp before they can say "WTF !" Mu hahahaha

One thing that bothered me a bit was when I got the mic to talk in Discord it says you need to use push-to-talk, but Discord's default is voice recognition.

Not terribly confusing, but I could see some people having trouble. Maybe a guide on setup?

Also, as someone who ignores all bots in channels, it was a bit confusing to get my account flagged to go into other channels.

I didn't read anything beyond the original post. My question is, do I have to read the wall of TESXT or does someone TL;DR for lazy don't want to read people like me or, even audio recordings to read it for me.

Also, I only skimmed through and seen something about agreeing with others. I also agree with people on this thread above me.

Okay so finally was able to install it :)
I tried to end the process but I didn't find any Discord process.
I found it in starup and deactivated it. (Took me like 3-4 days.. i am not a smart man)
