Tyberius Sun-Tzu Kain gained entry into the esteemed UEE Naval Academy at the ripe age of 16. He finished his undergraduate in Tactical Science at age 19 and Masters in Strategic Studies by age 21, and then entered active duty as a promising young bridge officer aboard the UEE Simon Wedgly, a Polaris class corvette running drug and human trafficking interdiction along the Five Star Cluster surrounding Nul. During his two tours of service aboard the Wedgley, Kain won three personal combat awards and silver cluster, and two distinguished service medals, but mustered out as a Commander when he grew disenchanted with how he claims politics replaces competence in the Navy.
TK moved next to the Scout Service and took command of a Panther class scout craft, the UEE Belligerent, where he flew deep recon in Vanduul space for another two tours. During that time he received gold florettes for Stealth Reconnaissance, and Stealth Combat, and silver clusters in Fleet Operations. He also continued his personal combat career and won the Odius Trigger on Jorth. During this time he submitted his first appeals to the UEE Navy to equip Polaris class corvettes with stealth modifications and use them for combating the Vanduul scourge, but was ignored.
Eventually TK transferred to private industry as an intelligence agent with Bydo Corp, gathering intel on a host of targets including Banu and Vanduul, as well as The Outsiders and many competitors to Bydo. He received Bydo's proprietary trade and covert operations training, which he still considers to be greatly advanced over that available through the UEE, and eventually set out to make his fortune with a stealth equipped Polaris ship, the UEE Frostwolf.
"Frosty" is a special order "Havoc" subclass Polaris corvette, with highly modified systems that not only make it quite fast, but much harder to spot at range than other ships of its class, and of competing classes such as the Vanduul Void Bomber. Frosty includes electronic warfare and countermeasures that allow it to appear as ships from the Carrack and Starfarer classes, and to simply "wink out", making it appear the ship has jumped when it has not. Frosty is typically considered the greatest threat to the Vanduul scourge run by a private concern along the Orion cluster.
Kain is considered to be unstable by some. Reportedly he once straddled a dying Vanduul warrior and gouged out its eyes with his thumbs while singing "I Did it My Way", much to the concern of his crew. When asked about this by his commanding officer he reportedly replied "I didn't like him, anyway", shrugged and asked for a beer. Later inquiries determined an unbridled hatred of the Vanduul fomented by their murder of his mother and sister on Orion. Kain claims he'll stop killing Vanduul when we run out of them.
