Been looking at this for a bit. Lot of haters out there for the female only protagonist, but it doesn’t bother me…but in this day and age, allowing a custom hero avatar would have been nice (face, hair, skin, gender, etc). I just see it as more opportunity for people to see themselves as the main character. That said, this does look like a female version of Han Solo, but allows for a totally different story than the established one.

love the sandbox view
love that you can do what you want (within reason) instead of a story on rails. Remind me more of Skyrim and maybe Starfield
would have loved piloting in atmosphere, but I get it.
be interesting to see how many lifeless worlds are out there.

I am seeing this as Starfield with Star Wars IP

lots of space based games out there coming soon, and I wonder if this might slow (not eliminate) fuming for SC, or speed it up. Right now, SC has a few unique features, some similar features that exist in-game, and a lot of promised features that are not anywhere near ready. Hopefully, it forces SC to start to deliver on their promises

I’m not sure how sandbox it really is. It may be more guided than seems at first. Sounds like you’re stuck with the one ship and there won’t be any others, so playing a pirate that steals ships from the Empire and sells to the Rebels doesn’t sound like it’s on the table. It’s also missing ship customization, so probably won’t compete well with SQ42 or Starfield. It will be interesting to compare droids, ships, etc.

This looks like a linear adventure with possibility to do some side quests in between, not a sandbox. It's fine by me, if the narrative is good I'm totally okay with having a game that doesn't need me to "come up with emergent gameplay" to grind until the next story point.

My only gripe with such attempts at a more free form adventure in newer games is that they make you feel like you can solve problems in whatever way you see fit (like, you think you could sneak around the left of someone cos there is zero reasons why that shouldn't work), but actually the devs only thought of one way (you must sneak right and take the predetermined route pixel perfect) and if you deviate even slightly, it's reload checkpoint time. It's really annoying and a persistent issue in almost anything I played that wasn't a fully-sandbox title.
