Wasn't that the Moonshine later plagiated as Whisky?
It's kinda what the Irish did before they learned how to run a proper Distillery.
Or maybe it's what the Irish do after drinking too much to properly run a Distillery?
Nevermind.
Gimme that keg...

Whiskey with an e is Irish, if I remember my history it's got something to do with the English being arses and banning whisky - so we added the e and said sure it's a different drink.

Some history buff will correct me again. English rule banned alcohol pretty much in Ireland so it was tradition for your grandad to head up to the hills and distill a wee drink sure, in a lil pot still.

Poitín is literally pot, the end accent makes her a wee pot. Which is moonshine; and was very lovingly cheap & illegal for many years. It's a bit more commercial now, knockeen hills I think makes a good 180proof you can buy, proper Irish family business named after the hills. If you can call it good; but it is the original Irish drink sure. Glendalough make one that tastes like proper spuds, which I reckon is about right.

Same reason if you go a wandering up the hills along the river you'll sometimes see old bit of green copper. Either the still exploded and got tossed or the whole still got tossed in there between batches. Best place to hide it on a river bed, copper lasts down there no probs

*Snorts, looks up, looks back into the tumbler containing an unexpectedly large amount of air with a slightly irritable expression*
...my POOInnt ish that the Scottish plagihated the ... Eiriish Whiskeeey's Granma... and called her Whiskiiiiiiy...
'Cause they whiiished they had thinked of it firshd...

Matter of fact there would be no Whiskey without them Muslim(!! (of all people)) Alchemists showing them Christian Monks a thing or two about distilling wine.
For purely medical reasons I'm sure.
Shows what wonders can be brought to life once the confessions actually talk in a productive manner.

Not to change subjects, but I spent the last 3 hours of my Friday night freetime flipping through used car websites, looking up the current price of now-classics like the RX7 FD and R34 Skylines and such, sharing what I found with my friend who told me a few days ago that he wants a "cool car".
Even though I knew he can't afford any of em.
I knew full well going into it that no, I also can't afford a 400.000 Euro GTR.

And I wasn't even drinking! And I have a bottle of Nikka right next to me!
What is wrong with me?

You think that's weird I've been window shopping for a hammer for the last week and have a shortlist of seven candidates.

protip from an old carpenter:

eliminate all the candidates without a shock absorbing fiberglass handle

your carpal and cubital tunnels will thank you

Kind thanks for the tip, appreciate it, that's removed two :glorious:

I already have like five hammers but my eye is drawn to a 40cm mini-sledge which is affordable and would come in handy when we finally have to replace a few patches of concrete littered around the garden.

Good for getting out any pent up anger you have stored inside too. But about 3 swings an I'm exhausted.

Borrowed a big makita sds hammer drill, has these concrete hammer end bits. Smashed the concrete driveway up without much bother.

There's a point, Mrs 'Bobface is a dab hand with an SDS with A chisel attatchment, she remoddeled the back garden with one of those we borrowed off her dad while I fannied about with a pickaxe type mattock (rather than axe type).

I really should get her an sds for our anniversary...

Last time I swung an axe, sharp one not a pick one, to the on look of it's owner and a group of his friends - overshot - log went into handle - handle went into pieces - owner was the saddest man I've ever seen.
Mrs Bobface knows what she's about I reckon!!
