what do you plan on doing with it besides games? :P and what do you have now?
I do virtualization of servers and VMware stuff. I sometimes do development coding, depending on how bored I am. I like to multitask and have other things running while I game like discord, Chrome, movies, and a virtual Linux because Super Tux 2!

I have a i7 3820 with 32 GB of RAM and I love having quad channel. I'm content with my 970 graphics. It's not the prettiest, but it's still good.

I have my system spread across multiple drives. A 60 GB SSD for the OS, a 120 GB SSD for Star Citizen and Guild Wars 2, another 120 GB SSD for some other multiplayer Steam games, and a 1 TB HDD data drive for everything else.

hmm, looks like an already good system.
Here are some thoughts what can be improved:
-->a dedicated soundcard for example a "Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium"
--> a second graphiccard if your motherboard and your case has enough space to mount a second one.

My motherboard is dying. The on board audio ports do not work, the fan on the audio part is dead, the CPU fan hasn't moved in 4 years, and every now and then the ethernet port quits.

I would agree the system looks solid enough. As for the recommendation for the dedicated sound card I am not sure most can tell the difference in sound quality and the system impact is questionable at best. Which i still find weird saying as I used to always have a creative sound blaster card in my system for years.

As for the second graphics card it really is a mixed bag for the small performance improvement on some games with select drivers. Its been my experience that you spend a great amount of time troubleshooting comparability issues and spending hours tweaking settings to get things stable enough to play until the next patch. I'd rather spend the extra money on the latest graphic card and have more time playing the game.

My friends and I have tried dual graphics cards before. I always get better results from a single card. Dual cards gives you a few more frames in exchange for a ton of headaches. The performance increase isn't worth the cost for me :/
