I was looking at the excellent vid posted by Radegast on combat and didn't get all the way through, because I started looking at this fabulous tool the guy was using:
The more I mess with this the more amazed I am. This is what I have always wanted, even before puberty.
You can put your favorite bird in and swap components, turn systems on and off and look at your EM and IR numbers. This is what determines if you can be seen by anything other than an active radar scan, which gives away the presence of the scanner. If you want to know what systems to turn off, for a stealth recon of a sector, here's your dream come true. Best tool I've seen to date.
Lesson's learned already include whoda thunk what would happen if you turn off your flight control computer? If you're drifting, you don't need it, and it knocks your stats WAY down!
Compare your favorite ships and those you expect will attack you, and start to get a feel for scan as a fine art. EM warfare and stealth specialists will hone their skills here, but every simple transport pilot needs to know this stuff so they know how and when they are vulnerable. This concerns how we see every other ship in game. Oh, and the weapons calculator rocks too! And the armor, which it breaks down by section!. And the shields. Get the stats off that reactor and see how the numbers all change with this new one. For stealth, you definitely want to swap out the reactor in the Razor EX for the DeltaMax.
So what are the numbers of a Razor EX with systems down, drifting along at 325 and silently scanning? EM: 194, IR: 534. The Eclipse and Ghost only barely beats those numbers.
Yeah I know its Alpha, but this is how we learn. Can someone who knows better tell me, is there a way to voice activate this Hardpoint tool so you can find data on an enemy while you're flying?
I love this thing.
