Hi all

I have recently been flying a 325A. I have several modes available to me. Some of which I can't work out or find out what they stand for. Any ideas?

NAV FLT (Default flight mode with no shields or weapons)
NAV SCN ( Scanning mode)
NAV QT (Adds Quantum Markers)
NAV SVG (No idea on this one)
SCM GUN (Default combat mode)
SCM MSL (Missile mode)
SCM SCN ( Scanning mode)
SCM SVG (No idea on this one)
SCM TRT (No idea on this one)

Any help would be great. I am trying to learn the basics again.

Good morning.. straight up, this is one of those topics where the best thing is to jump into Discord and ask for help. SOOOO much easier to explain that way!

NAV is your getting around the 'verse mode. As you point out, no shields or weapons, but able to use the quantum drive. Quantum boost will eventually be added here for short jumps.

SCM is the classic 'doing things' mode, for whatever the ship is intended. Shields, weapons, mining lasers and salvage happen in this mode.

SVG refers to Salvage, TRT refers to Tractor beams, and of course are ship specific. The 315p has a tractor mode, for example.

As the transition to Master Modes isn't complete yet, there are still some questions about how all of this will settle out.

Thank you, so I assume the tractor and salvage mode on the 325I are more of a bug as it can not do either of those things.

True. And it's most likely because not all are completely sorted yet. The ship brands that are in SQ42 have had their HUD setups mostly implemented (Aegis, Anvil, Argo, Drake..?) But the rest are using a generic template right now.

What's your control setup? MKB? HOTAS? HOSAS?

I have got a T16000M and a TWCS throttle.
I hear you.
I especially loved the option to strave up/down and left/right with the mini-joystick of the TWCS while going forward-back with the rudder rocker.
Made landing pretty smooth.
But then the T16000 gets jiggy in the Z Axis and you exchange it for a Gladiator NXT EVO or somesuch.
And after half a year or so you left hand demands the same smoothness of movement as your right hand is experiencing and you find yourself waiting for a Black Friday offer of an Omnthrottle and..
Oh , damn, that STECS looks good too...
And bye bye my hard earned cash. Sigh.
We all saw it happening before...
By the way, if you still run out of buttons, especially for mining and stuff. Before anything else get your hands on a StreamDeck (TM).
Together with the StarCitizen Keybinding Plugin you're set for life when it comes to all those situational keys.
And the best thing is, you don't have to fear no keybinding changes in the next patch!
Keybindings get auto-extracted.
So as long as they do not get dropped altogethter you're safe and can concentrate on actually playing the game.
Weird idea, right?

Finally decided on a HOTAS, could not get use to HOSAS. I have got a T16000M and a TWCS throttle.
Darn too bad you're not into HOSAS. I ran dual T16000Ms for the longest time and had a great time with it. Buzzkilla's joystick profiles are terrific.
Naw, HOTAS absolutely has its place/advantages. All things being equal, I slightly prefer HOSAS when in a small, nimble fighter and HOTAS in larger ships, but honestly if I could only chose one, I'd keep the throttle for sure, for several reasons. Primarily, I find it MUCH more immersive with all the extra buttons/toggle switches. NOTHING tickles me quite as much as sitting down in the cockpit and then flipping a real switch to turn all of the power on or to raise and lower the gear! And secondly, it really doesn't give up *that* much in terms of control. The reason for this is that you very, very seldom use less than 100% in your strafing directions, other than maybe 'down' during landing. But during flight, either a 4-way directional hat and/or mini-stick is just fine for lateral thrusters.
