Hello fellow traders,

I've never exchanged virtual stuff before thus I come before you for answers.

After a long time living under captial-restricted Greece, I will travel to Netherland for my Easter Holidays. This gives me the opportunity to buy finally a ship. What I really want is a Cutlass Red or a Reliant Tana. Sadly, I was unable to buy them when they came with LTI.

Should I buy the LTI Prospector with the hope that someone would trade it (maybe higher value down the road) or should I just by the Cutlass Red that is available?

Anyone who says no to you getting one is obviously mentally stable and/or sober and shouldn't be a part of TEST. Buy ALL the ships!

That being said, If you want LTI for a Cutlass Red I don't know if you could CCU from a Prospector to that. The Cutlass Red will go up in price, but maybe not *that* much. I would look for something in the grey market (from someone trustworthy) that is cheaper with LTI and upgrade to the Red from that if you aren't at all interested in the Prospector itself.

*edit: I bet the Prospector gets a $40 bump down the road, if you are wanting to wait for the long haul. Keep in mind, though, that they said it probably won't be hangar ready until at or around SQ42 release so you may get stuck with it if they stop selling ships on the site by then.

Two rules for me:
#1: I'm spending my hard earned money to support the development of STAR CITIZEN and SQUADRON 42
#2: I only "invest" in ships that support what I want to do in the game because I'M SPENDING MY HARD EARNED MONEY TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF STAR CITIZEN AND SQUADRON 42.

That being said I don't end up regretting my pledge or the premium I receive for it. The fact that prices increase later (i.e. Starfarer $195-$300) is reason enough for me to invest "early" in something I'm really interested in.

Plenty of good folks here to help on your decision!

If you want LTI on a Red I wouldn't get the Prospector. You have two options.

1. Go to Grey Market for a cheap LTI ship. I can help with that, I know a few solid guys.

2. Wait for next concepts. The Dragonfly should be cheaper than Red.

Dammit, @Grimbli ! I wanted him to read through my ramblings but you said it in fewer, easier to read, words with numbered points. You are making us all look bad. Have another beer.

I'm crazy focused when sober. I'm crazy fun when buzzed. And I'm just crazy when drunk

As Grimbli put it, buy a cheaper ship than the one you want to transfer to.
Personally, I wouldn't be bothered with LTI at all. Just get what you want (especially if you have to go to another country to get it) and deal with insurance in game which shouldn't be that much of a hassle. I know it's heresy to LTI enthusiasts, but it seems to be more a badge of "I bought this thing when it was just a twinkle in its daddy's eye" than anything else.

Yes always buy LTI. You get it cheapest and you can change it out to a bigger model and keep the LTI. No one knows what impact the LTI will have but I would hazard a guess that losing a ship would set you back one ore more days worth of work, so LTI may be very helpful if you crash into lots of suns or asteroids. So in test squadron it's essential.

I've actually worked the system a bit to get all LTI ships, but that's cause I don't want to bother with base insurance at all! (There's still upgrade insurance though)

But they've said it's not a big deal. Probably be like armor repair in other games, IE mostly annoying.

If this is your only chance to ever buy an LTI? I wouldn't bother.
But if you can buy a concept whenever? I'd wait.

Trading a ship is the same as Grey Market, so either do it for what you want now, or don't worry about it.

If you want the prospector for mining thats fine, however if that was not the ship you originally wanted then look in our forum market place and buy a $30 LTI ship and upgrade to whichever you want. People may even have a CCU lying around they dont mind selling or parting with for free.

There will be other cheaper LTI ships comming out in future (snubs) so you could wait a month or 2 and buy those then upgrade

My theory on LTI is that it is not a big deal if you own one or two small ships. They will be cheap to insure.

Now if you own a large ship, insurance should be more, so LTI can add up in savings over time.

If you own a fleet of ships, then LTI can really add up quickly. (This is where I fall, and am betting on)

This is why I care about LTI. Just because I don't want to have to pay insurance on a whole bunch of ships... especially if I end up switching regularly.

Well, the expedition to the Netherlands has exceeded my expectations... and my estimated expences too... Thus I just had enough money to upgrade my Mustang into an Avenger. Guess, I'll have to wait for an other sale closer to my tastes

#OFFTOPIC#
The ships I'm mostly interested in are:
- a Reliant Tana, for a pretty maneuvering escort/mini transport. (Main personal ship)
- a Cutlass Red, for Search & Rescue along someone's Hospital. (Main occupation)
- a Carrack, .... Because I just love the ship's hull. (Flagship for lange ship combat and exploration in style)

Love that Carrack, too. You can get this pretty ship on reddit sometimes for 300$ which is the best price currently. But I wouldnt' pay more than 340, 350$ - unless you want it no matter what and don't want to wait any longer.
I paid 325 overall: first bought a Talli for 225 coins and then a CCU for almost a 100 - which was a bad bargain after that good call with the Talli.
